This week at the Mecum Monterey Acution, 1986 Mondial 3.2 cab low miles but average sold at $60,500. I can recall when my neoghbor had a Dino dirt cheap and and a few years later the market exploded to reach todays numbers which are unbelievable.

I'm guessing then that the 3.4 T's, marking the "transversale" era, could show even more support...

    Whats your take, guess?

They will eventually go up in value. 1 it’s got a V8, and they have a gated shifter which many people are looking for and it’s getting harder and harder to find them due to how many people have discarded them. I have an 83 coupe which I know there not that many here in the states. I believe someone in the Mondial section of fchat put up the number for how many were imported to the us and I believe in 83 only 51 coupes where imported now you have to account how many got into accidents and how many are not in great condition to drive. I say give them a few years and they will go up in value. Look at the Dino no one like them because of the v6 in them now you can’t even touch them.

Indeed. I also think that because they were so cheap at some point, many fell in the hands of not well funded owners and a great number have been scraped or lost to lack of maintenance.

Plenty of mondials sufferd due to there low cost and honestly lack of appeal. I personally like them. They were the cheapest way into Ferrari ownership, and still are. Trouble is, the cost to bring one back to life would cost more then most are worth. Unless there is a sudden upswing in demand for soiled unloved Mondials, prices will remain low except for a few anomalies.

We all have witnessed a similar situation with the 246 Dino's. V6 Fiat, super small, not uttelry pretty (at that time) and "not" a Ferrari; as they kept on saying. And look now...

Both also marked a technical defining moment; mid-engine intro, and Mondial T introduced the Transversale...

Im sticking to my bet (on the T's) and willing to risk it; anyways sill get the enjoyment of such an airy 4 seater cockpit and most else a Ferrari.

Seeing sing of more upward pressure. Its those annomalies that turn into a trend...

These are still available (not sold), but pricing seems in-line with latest sales, at least for the T's... There is upward movement lately, and COVID must have made many "pull the trigger" and have fun. Last week a T won the preservation class platinum at the Concorso Italiano in Monterey. They are even being allowed in Concosrsos... :) No need to hide anymore... !

Indeed, when Casa Ferrari this year not only had a Mondial on the lawn among other greats, but to push the point decided to interview and publish the family, that was epic.

To see the ‘Mondial’ among all the Monzas made my day.

Seems like red haired step child is finally formally invited into the palace gates versus folks hoping she doesn’t show up

    ;)

it doesn’t hurt that Chris Harris is absolutely infatuated with er.’

I thought this recent BAT auction illustrates what some people 'in the know' understand. A former original owner, reunited with his lost love.

Personally I have always liked the look of the Mondial particularly the spiders with the top down. I can understand the distaste for the 2V but the 4V should go much higher over the next few years

While I think inexpensive roaches will be around for a while, the days of good, inexpensive Mondials, are over. Sigh, I was hoping they’d stay down until the kids are out of college.
