According to German news it seems that Monisha Kaltenborn has been removed with immediate effect. No mention is made yet on reasons nor replacement.
Monisha Kaltenborn leaves Sauber as Swiss team's struggles continue | F1 News Looks like Longbow Finance will be bringing in someone else.
Monisha Kaltenborn is no longer Sauber's main team The Indian manager was raised from his post on the eve of the Azerbaijani stage in Baku Monisha Kaltenborn is no longer Sauber's main team. There is still no official news from the Swiss team, but the indiscretion has been reported with some confidence by FormulaPassion.com colleagues this very morning. The Indian manager was then relieved of his post since 2010, when Peter Sauber repackaged the stable he had sold to BMW at the end of 2005. His position had already been questioned last season when the new Property was looking for a new prominent person who could cover his role, but eventually opted for his reconfirmation. The news comes on the eve of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the eighth stage of the 2017 World Formula 1 World Championship which will take place on the Baku City Circuit, where Hinwil's team will be featured without a team manager. https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=it&u=https://www.motorsportitalia.net/la-kaltenborn-non-piu-team-principal-della-sauber/&prev=search This is what google translated per the website.....sorry but it looks like the translation refers to her as his??? Perhaps only a matter of time before Ericsson finally moves over to make way for a Honda hot shot? or maybe not ...Ericcson's backers own Longmore Finance ...who own Sauber.
Motorsport.com understands former HRT team principal Colin Kolles is a candidate to replace Kaltenborn.
My impression of her was that she was inept, out of her depth. Sauber hasn't exactly thrived under her leadership.
https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/f1-sauber-kaltenborn-steps-down-920951/ Seems like Longbow Finance wanted to give Ericcson N01 status, but Monisha didnt agree.... Why would they want to give him No1 status? more $$ from his backers? ohhh Ericcson's backers actually own Longbow Finance ....
I've said it multiple times over the years...since she got at the helm it's been going downhill. Profited of the already good car (designed by James Key) in her first year, from then on it's been nothing short of a disaster. How she hasn't been sacked years ago is beyond me.
IIRC she was/is a shareholder, as well. She lost a lot of credibility (if not all of it) with the Giedo van der Garde story.
Brundle: " I've never really understood Sauber's objectives in F1. BMW's deal finally made sense for awhile. Now it needs greater ambition + leadership."
Looking to 2018 Honda may well want to place one of their drivers at Sauber, with Ericcson gold plated right now backed by the team owners would they let Werewolf go?
Alonso! One of the greats that hasn't started his career at Sauber. With all his attempts to tick the other boxes (Indy, Le Mans) he might want to tick that one as well...
