OK, I just bought the Torgoen from VTC, but I took it into a local high end jewelry store to get fitted. While waiting this place is going out of business and has a Montblanc for 50% off. I believe it is the model linked, if not, then it looks just like it. They said retail was just under $3k and I can get for $1,300. I think it would match the GranSport great and nice elegant simple watch I like! :)

The first one you posted is a 3k + watch.
Automatic Chrono for $1300 is steal, go get it

The second one (the Ebay link) is a non chrono, totally different animal at $1400.

Buy the chrono, it's a deal

    They're good-looking watches, too.

I actually really like the look of the chrono. Seems like a good deal @ 1,400. Just don't expect it to hold it's value well if you ever are thinking of selling.

I have no idea what you are talking about, but with a few minutes tomorrow I'll go research on Wiki.

Montblanc is a quality watch. Especially their really high end Villerets which uses Minerva (now owned by them).

I stopped by this week and a different salesman, didn't have the same watch, although still a dozen Montblanc's, only on sale 20-30% off.

Name of jewelry store is Bailey Banks & Biddle. They have a ton of stores, some close to you, might be worth a check. Rest of you might check too, they are in 20 states or so.

A very significant jeweler friend of mine based in Rome gave some very sage advice to me many years ago. "Never buy jewelry from a watchmaker and never buy a watch from a jewelry maker" ...or in this case a pen maker. It may have good looks and a quality movement but poor resale value and low prestige are a given.

Mont Blanc's Villeret collection bucks this trend :)
