We should try and have an F-chat late afternoon cocktail party on Fri. in Monterey.

If you are buying then the first round then you should pick the place. LOL
The Pacific region FCA is staying at Casa Munras in Monterey and they have a nice bar and outdoor area. Maybe we could all me there from 4-6 PM on Friday.

Since Tarpy's is close to Laguna Seca, how about there?

Tarpy would be good but it might be pretty crowed since it is close to the Italian Concorso.

We totally should. I would be interested in a later Friday get-together. What about Baja Cantina? That place is always hopping. Anywhere would be cool though. Would love safe parking and cheap food and drinks (relatively speaking, of course).

Our number one concern should be parking. I worry that Tarpy and Baja Cantina will be so crowded that parking will be a problem. Does anyone from the Monterey area have some suggestions???

Baja has unlimited parking so to speak. But, the Quail event is right there as well and no doubt there will be many cars there.

At Baja, there is parking along Carmel Valley road and across the street going up to Tehama. Tarpys has limited parking and will be too cramped. I think Baja will be lots better than Tarpys as far as parking goes.

I was at the Cantina about 6 years ago on the Monterey weekend and Alain de Cadenet was drunk dancing with some very nice looking women and had a bra on his head, only wish I had taken a picture. It was a memorable evening. I would go to the Cantina.

One warning make sure you have a ride back to your hotel. The cops wait often come into the club and patrol the parking lot. Be safe.

How about we start a list of who wants to get together on Fri. between 5-7 PM and see how many people we have and then see how much parking we will need.
List your choice of Tarpy, Baja Cantina, or Casa Munras (where FCA is staying)

    2. Huskerbill - I will go wherever there is safe parking, cheap food and good times. I have never been to Casa Munras. Baja will be more crowded but the food is cheap and fast (outside in the BBQ line) and there is always parking with plenty of eyes on the cars. I will be at Baja on Thursday night like always so I really don't care where we go.

The wife and I are hoping to make this, too - I'm anxious to meet more of my F-Chat brethren... Baja Cantina sounds very cool.

True, it may almost be faster from Salinas to CI on Friday morning than from Carmel to CI.

No matter what spin CI is putting on it now, it is still going to be mess. I know those roads to the new place, and they are worse than the old way into Fort Ord.

No offense to CI, that is probably where I am going, but I am adding new radiator fans for the traffic. Seriously.

I've got my car and another (Boxster) leaving Sac on Friday morning. We're staying in Gilroy, like we did last year, and I have no worries about the car being safe. Mike, send me a PM if you wanna come with us, or if you want to meet while we're down there!

Thought I would merge the members. On second thought, I am going to start a new thread dedicated JUST to this. Clearly there is interest. By making it its own thread, we can capture the others who will be coming in for the weekend who otherwise might miss it if it is buried in the "Monterey '09" thread.
