This is a magnificent example. The current owner stopped-by the facility I was working in at the time to see some of the work we were doing on his son's Porsche. He was driving 2845gt that day, having recently acquired her. The right tail light was out, so I remedied it for him - at no charge, of course. That, in itself, was an honor. It showed very well at the Americana Concours in Manhassett that year, as well.
What you quote as a "private customer special" is the most important Blower Bentley in existence. The Blower Bentley was not used by the factory as a race car as W.O.Bentley prefered the Speed Six. Tim Birkin was the one that raced the 4 "Birkin Team Blowers", the other 50 were built with the financial background of Woolf Baranto by the factory just to homologate the Birkin Blowers, they did not even sell great back then. The single seater sold last year at Goodwood is the track car of Birkin and set the lap record in Brooklands...Beside the other 3 Birkin Blower just a couple of Speed Six (especially Old Number One and the Blue Train Bentley) and Team Car 4 1/2 Litre can match the importance of UU5871... Certainly the Blower of Bonhams is nice but normally it will not get the same money
Again: NOT 0773 GT. It is 0703 GT. 0703 GT is a 14-louvre car. (0773 GT would be a 3 louvre car). Just a couple million $ difference. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
Marcel, whatever you define it as. Seeing what you would include was part of the question. : ) George
Gooding just posted a picture on their website of a nice 14 Louvre TDF - they will be offering at Monterey. The 14 Louvre in my opinion is one of the nicest Ferraris that were ever made. I found a video of the car being offered. The owner is Gregg Whitten and if I am not mistaken he also owns a 250 GTO. I wonder if he thinks the market has peaked and he is selling to take advantage? I am aware he probably does not need the money owning several other fine cars.... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMMtgbXvBIE]1957 FERRARI 250 GT LWB TdF Scaglietti race car - YouTube[/ame]

Just look at the line up RM put together. I have not seen as many vintage Ferraris at this venue before. Some of the cars are exceptional and very important and rare offerings that don't come around often.
phillip Porter (Jag expert said this mid 1990's) Supplied to Suomen Maanviljelijain Kauppa Oy, Tampere, Finland; sold to Kurt Lincoln (Helsinki); 1956 over 2-litre race, Djurgard Park, 1st; raced successfully on road, ice and sand; raced by Timo Makinen; 1959/60 overhauled at works; 1961 Formula Libre race, Central Automobile Club of the USSR (believed to be the only time a D-type has ever raced in Russia), H. Hietarinta, 1st; 1966 sold to Nigel Moores; rebodied possibly using body made by Williams &Pritchard; 1988 sold to Yoshijuki Hayashi (Japan). Later reported to be two cars with XKD 530 identity. One car built around original front subframe and long-nose bodywork, which Jaguar World states to be the car that carries the correct identity; owned by Andrew Baber (Forest of Daan, UK). A second car was built up around the original damaged monocoque and original engine, transmission, and tail section. acquired from the Moores estate; 199? offered for sale in Brooks auction; 1993 passed, via Adrian Hamilton, to Arthur Urciuoli (USA). Now both parts were purchased by Gary Bartlett and reunited by CKL to form one car bearing the serial number XKD530. Thanks. I thought this was the one a friend once called "the double-D", prior to the reunion. I'm curious to see where it ends up...
A sign of the times? Yes, if you have to sell this is one of the best events. I am sure there is a different reason behind each of these sales. Any comments. tongascew
There will be more than 60 (sixty) Ferraris available at the various auctions in Monterey and Pebble Beach. Marcel Massini
In this interview it sounds like the car may not really be for sale as he talks about future plans for the car. tongascrew
It was uploaded on the 3rd of September 2010 and he was interviewed in August at Pebble Beach. Nearly three years ago. Things change.
I would definitely agree with this.If I were in the position of considering purchase of any early Ferrari I would contract with Mr Massini for a full plate of advice. What is really scarey is some of these cars "fully restored" only to discover a horror show underneath the resto. I have files on several of these and it's not a pretty picture. tongascrew
Besides Agnelli 1517 SA was also owned by Anita Ekberg, the Swedish actress. She bought it on the 19th October 1962 and kept it until the 27th May 1966. Marcel Massini
Oddly enough not a single 365 GT? anywhere in the auctions? Very odd as these are the entry level vintage front engine V12's.
