Anyone interested in doing a day trip drive up to Monterey for Concorso Italiano/Pebble Beach? We could leave early Fri morning and come back Fri night? Sorry for the typo...it's Friday the 18th.
That's alot of effort for one day! Fcars? or no? My wife and I were talking about this last night. She was looking thru Cavallino and saw the ad
Fcars are not a must. I am going to take mine. It loves a good long run. If it was easy, it would not be fun. What better way to spend a Friday then driving it 350 miles to monterey, spending the day with Ferrari's, seeing Jim new car at the party and driving home on a balmy August night!
Man up Chris!!! It is strictly BYOTT (Bring your own Tow Truck) Joking aside, I have AAA premire with a 200 mile tow. Regardless of where we are at, I can get it towed to a dealer for you. I think you will be suprised on how reliable your car can be. If mine can make it, so can yours
1) racer98 and also I have a route picked out e-mail me and I will send it too you in google earth. I will join you up but Im gonna try to find a place for the night.
Trying and get a room at this late in the game is pretty impossible. I suspect I will have to take the prius or the aviator at this point with the possibility of my car not being around at that time.
The Aviator might be big enough for a sleeping bag. I have slept in my Durango on a camping trip, not so bad with a camp pad. Maybe you can get cozy with Karim?????
Matt I might be interested in riding up there with you! I wanted to go to Jims party but probably shoudlnt spend a lot of money for a full weekend up there. Let me double check some dates on my calendar. Do you guys know if they are still letting people camp at Laguna Seca that weekend and how much it might cost a night to do that? Im pretty sure I can sleep in the back of my GTI with the seats folded down. Might be worth a shot afterall.
leaving at 5:30am on a friday, you should be able to get to monterey by noon, and that's with taking the coast or other fun backroads (although at a brisk pace). I might be in for this too.
I'd love to find somebody with an extra bed and a room to share, but I might be interested in joining you guys or taking Jordan's suggestion of camping out if that's available still. I think my Mazda5 might be a perfect sleeper.
I drive this dirve with my Corvette club every year and it is a blast! I know the roads quite well, and just may go! You may want to think about spending the night on the return in some place like Cambria, which is a cool little town.
Anybody have the schedule of events for the week handy for posting? Maybe some links to the events and locations in question? I definitely want to hit Concorso and Monterey's Historics.
