In hopes of finding shade, I bought tickets for the flagroom Saturday 8/18. They include parking in the flagroom lot and entering through the main entrance on Hwy 68. Because I couldn't see subjecting my 430 F1 clutch to the torture of stop-and-go traffic creeping up the hill from the entrance, I intended to take the shuttle.

I just learned that the general admission tickets use separate entrances, which should lighten the traffic a bit for the main entrance. Anybody have experience with it last year? Am I better off sticking with the shuttle?

Get there early (before 9am) and you can avoid traffic altogether.

I am taking the MTA bus from the Monterey transit plaza in the middle of Monterey to the track. No driving up the hill, no parking on the dirt. Busses run all day.

There is ab ack entrance that we use off of 1. Head north out of Monterey and take 11th street(not sure of the exit) and it comes in behind the flagroom and is usually clear. If I can find a map I'll post better directions. The Flagroom is across from the pits, isn't it?

According to the map they enclosed with the tickets, the flagroom is between turns 4 & 5.

I agree, I arrived a little late after sitting in bumper to bumper on the backroad they tell you to take, and still parked my rental within 150' of the track. Great photo and veiwing op's from their vantage point too. Take the highway instead of the backroad. Everyone who went that way sailed in my year.

OK. I was thinking you were in the tower across from the pits. I think the back road is Reservation rd that you get to from 1.

I have a room at the Hilton that I will be cancelling if anyone is still looking for a hotel. Let me know quickly.
