So, I need to get off my ass and make some reservations. The only thing I am signed up with so far is Concorso Italiano. I will probably come down thursday morning and spend lunchtime in Carmel to see the Pebble Beach tour, then head over to Laguna Seca and watch the practice sessions. Any dinners planned? I know I need to find a room for thursday night, but am wondering if I should bend over and take it like a man for rooms on fri and sat night, too.

    Where are folks staying?

Jeez, I forgot Monterey is coming up so soon. Just received my invitation to be a Class Host again at Pebble.

I have never known there to be a shortage of dinners, but can understand getting a plan together. I thought the rooms were for a minimum of 3 nights during the car weekend? I am assuming the motel has a different minimum during the week just before the main events.

I would try to stay through Pebble. Pininfarina is being honored and I believe there will be some significant Ferrari show cars displayed. The FCA/Pacific Region is presenting a special award honoring Sergio which will be very nice and a first for Pebble. Read Harold Wong's column in the FCA/Pacific Region Newsletter for more information. In addition, Scuderia Ferrari Alfa racecars will be shown at Pebble.

    Here's my schedule, for kicks:

Thursday - Drive down HWY 1. RM Preview, Bonhams Preview gala, Christies Auction
Friday - Concorso in the morning, Quail for Lunch, Bonhams in the afternoon (if they get some good cars), private dinner party, RM Auctions late night
Saturday - Monterey Historics, RM Auctions
Sunday - Pebble Beach (lest we forget what started this madness), Gooding Auction

I think if you want a room near Monterey, there's a 3 or 4 night minimum. Salinas is an option - not too far away, and is a fun drive. I'm staying in Seaside this year - easy freeway access, and away from the "Carmel Crunch" on highway 1.

    Can't hardly wait!!

This is the first year I did not get a hotel room. I plan to get up at 4am on Friday morning and show up at Concorso with the Ferrari. I was quite interested in doing Quail as an exhibitor, but the invitation never surfaced after a couple of feeble attempts.
Most places require a 3 night stay, but I know of one that only wants 2. Even a seedy motel costs $250.
Wife will drive the Maseratri a little later Friday morning and join me. Kids will stay with the sitter on the peninsula...

We (www.***************.com) will be in the area as early as Tuesday evening and looking to photograph some cars in and around the peninsula before the weekend event mayhem begins. respond in this thread or email me at: [email protected] (without the '777') if you're interested.
