I thought I had a lot of Ferrari & Maserati parts. I was blown away with the shear amount of parts, their salvage process. Thanks Mitch, even Alexandra was impressed. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
After we saw Mitch on Sunday, we had lunch with my friend Tony Jones and his son Tom. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

On Tuesday we made two quick stops in Houston to see old Philly friends Ralph Barnes & Barbara Paige and grab a bit to eat. Then a long ride on to Dallas. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wednesday we left Dallas and we cut thru Texas on state road 287 to Amarillo where we caught I-40 West. When we got to New Mexico the landscape was noticeably different to Alexandra. While we got gas Alexandra conducted a bug check. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Taos Pueblo is the oldest continually inhabited community in North America. It was established over 3,000 years ago. It was an honor to share this moment with my daughter. Actually it was Thursday when we left Santa FE. After Taos we took a wonderful drive up New Mexico state route # 522 into Colorados state route # 159 to route # 160 to Walsenburg and then I-25 north to Denver. We spent a couple of days with my sister Glenda. This allowed Alexandra to swim, watch TV and get some time away from the Maserati. Friday we took a trolley downtown for lunch and treats. Saturday morning we had an appointment with the Rocky Mountains. We started out on I-70 through the mountains, had lunch in Grand Junction and continued on I-70 until Salina, Utah where we picked up US 50. Cutting through Utah and Nevada on US Highways and State Roads saves us about 500 miles plus they are not patrolled very well. I was able to maintain speeds over 100 MPH with spurts up to 125. I passed a County Mounty at about 110 and he didnt care. We stayed in Ely, Nevada. Sunday morning 8 August, we got on the road before dawn and it was pedal to the metal time again. The temperature was 53 degrees. We took US 6 across Nevada to Tonopah and into California at Benton. Once into California, navigating gets a little tricky. So you take California # 120 over to US 395 and enter Yosemite National Park s East gate. GPS, Mapquest and most maps dont show this route because its a seasonal route through a National Park but it wasnt my first time through Yosemite. The cliffs were so high and scary I took the pictures from inside the Maserati. Tioga Peaks summit is 11,526 feet above sea level. We exited Yosemite through the Merced River Valley around 2:00 pm and the temperature was 106. A 53 degree difference from morning in Ely. Again we stayed on state roads California # 140 & # 152 right to Monterey / Carmel. Coming cross the Sierra Nevada Mountains allowed us the time to just make to "Carmel by the Sea" before the sun set and have diner at a familiar place "Flaherty's" seafood. We Reached! On Monday, 10 August, we took the Maserati up to Maserati of Marin for a service & detail. I was a little surprised about 2 days but they said it would take least 2 days to clean the bugs off and gave us a Fiat 500L to get around and do some sightseeing. I couldn't ague however it was about a 125 mile drive between Monterey and Marin. We had breakfast in Sausalito, did some exploring for another old haunt of mine, the "bar with no name." I was stationed in the Bay Area for four years (1979 - 1983) while in the Navy. Still sightseeing and getting anxious about missing car week activities in Monterey. I saw no Maseratis in the official Maserati Club (MIE) hotel parking lot this morning but I'm now driving a Fiat 500L. On Saturday Alexandra and I went down to Washington DC for the Maserati Centro Anni Celebration and several people asked that I complete my journal with pictures rather than the links from the Tapatalk mobile link. I will do my best to finish the story. Thank for looking and commenting. On Tuesday, August 12, 2014, Quite day today, we took it easy, did the laundry & picked up the Maserati from Maserati / Ferrari of Marin. Alexandra wanted to go back to Sausalito for lunch. The Maserati is ready, it also needed rear breaks. It's all cleaned up now and ready to show! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
