We stayed Wednesday night, 19 August 2014 in Santa Rosa. Thursday morning we drove through Napa to Vallejo. Three days before the Napa earthquake of 2014. Great Planning!

I was stationed in Vallejo, California for my first 2 years in the Navy. I went to computer technician school at Combat Systems Technical Schools Command on Mare Island (1979 to 1981). I was stationed in the Bay Area for 4 years. After submarine school, I was sent out on USS Coral Sea (an aircraft carrier) to Iran. The Coral Sea was based in Alameda, California. I returned to submarines in 1983, USS Norfolk, SSN-714.

Thursday began in Sacramento visiting with my friend Jackie Purnell, then back through Oakland, San Francisco down California route #101, to the Pacific Coast Highway and a visit to the Hearst Castle. The Pacific Coast Highway is my favorite highway. Over the years, I have driven the PCH from Cabo San Lucas, Baha California, Mexico to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

    Thanks!

Friday was a mad dash down to San Diego to meet my wife, Victoria who flew out to join the tour 'til Labor Day. We took the PCH to Santa Barbara, had lunch, cut thru Point Mugu, & Malibu to LA and San Diego in Friday traffic. Sorry no pictures...

After Alexandra got her ears pierced we drove over to La Jolla and stopped by Symbolic. I remember when this place was a Ferrari dealer, not anymore!

Art, thanks, I'll be making a quick trip back flying solo but I'll post some pictures.

Up the road a bit and around the corner is the new Maserati & Ferrari of San Diego. Two stores across the street from each other

After a late lunch we drove out to Point Loma. We paused for a moment of reflection at the National Cemetery above Submarine Base San Diego. I sailed out of here often. I also spent a lot of time at Submarine Base as a civilian contractor for Raytheon Service Company and when I worked for Naval Sea Combat Systems Command.

You can see a tin-can coming into port and there is a submarine beside the peer.

Well I sold the QP last month and now the Schodonie luggage must go too!

Sorry to see it go -- $2,500 or best offer.

5 piece gently used with slight patina

Oh dear! I thought you were a forever fan? Perhaps a new model?

I thought i was a "forever fan" too. However, the sky rocketing maintenance and the dropping value of the 2005 models with Paddle shifters just took the fun out of it.

The memories of driving it Coast to Coast and back with my daughter will last forever! And I've still got the "Furthest Driven" trophy to prove it.
