It has been a long time since I've been to Monterey week. I wanted to post a thread so we can collectively talk about all the events and any tips & tricks to the week.

So far I just have tickets to Casa Ferrari and Concour d’Elegance. What other events are must attend?

Which airport is recommended to fly into and what part of town to stay? Thanks!!!

True story. Gerald Rouse told me he and Steve Something or the Other would crash on Pensacola beach with nothing more than a sleeping bag. We were all young once.

You did not specify WHICH Concours d'Elégance you have tickets for. There will be several Concours.

If you do not already have a room and cannot bum a couch, check the motels in Santa Cruz. Its a bit of a drive but I consider it a better alternative than Salinas. Salinas is closer but in California you probably will not be carrying.

If Monterey airport does not work for you probably next best is San Jose. Lots of service from Texas. Monterey is small with limited service. Traffic depending Monterey is 1-1 1/2 hrs from SJ. Friday afternoon doesn't count.

... or alternatively, after winning the auction of the 0854 and assuming it still features street legal tires, you can use it as your transportation for the remainder of the weekend.
Talk about arriving everywhere in something far more exclusive and stylish than helicopters. ;)

You will miss two of the most important events:
    The Quail.
    Gooding auction.
You can do RM Sotheby's either Friday or Saturday night.
And you will also miss the very top event, which is even free of charge, early Thursday morning: the start of the PB Tour. BTW, always plenty of fchatters there as well.

This was a late plan after the late invites by Casa Ferrari. We won't fly in until Thursday night. and the cheapest pair of Quail tickets I've seen is $3,000. I might be able to swing the Gooding auction.

    Hi Rob,

You likely have a PB judge in your constellation of friends and contacts. In addition to their normal guest wrist bands and goodies from PB, judges received Lodge wristbands for their guests this year. Happy hunting!

All my judge contacts are Ferrari only, off hand I don't know anyone judging Pebble this year. Is there a list of judges anywhere?

    Remo Lips - 1969 Ferrari 312P

Ned Spieker - 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB

    Chris MacAllister - 1976 Ferrari 312 T2

    What is this?

John Goodman - 1971 Sparling Special Ferrari Special

312 P Berlinetta is chassis #0872 owned by Swiss collector Arnold Meier. His family member Mr. Lips will race it in Laguna Seca. Car has been airfreighted from Switzerland to CA about a week ago by Martin Button's Cosdel. Meier has also sent over another Ferrari which will be shown Sunday the 20th August on the lawn at PB Concours in class M-2.
    Spieker's 250 SWB is chassis #2701 GT.
    MacAllister's 312 T2 is chassis #026.

Goodman's Sparling Special is the recreation of the flying shingle 312 that I think uses the engine out of a Queen Mary.

What's the deal with Pebble parking? Casa Ferrari recommends that you don't drive, but ride share. Seems like problems if everyone is trying to ride share leaving Pebble at same time. Casa Ferrari doesn't have parking, but is there parking available through Pebble? Thanks.

PB general parking is spread to different parking lots all around 17 Mile Drive on first come, first served basis and they have numerous busses circling/transporting people back and forth between the lots and the drop off/on point (relatively) near the lodge.

Interestingly enough, I was offered a complimentary ticket (twice) to Quail & (once) VIP to PB within last few days, but declined the kind suggestions, since I'm not planning to go Monterey this time at all.
