The James Allison hiring is very big - unfortunately he doesn't start until September 1st though...
I'm no Fred fan, not by a long shot, but what he's done with that bucket he's been given is remarkable. I agree with previous comments - FA is out for himself only. That's been shown before he came to Ferrari. Why are they surprised by this? And the comments about contracts? Please. We've all seen those are worth the paper they're written on. No more, no less.
We hear time and time again that Ferrari's wind tunnel data doesn't correlate with on-track data. Presumably that architectural masterpiece of a wind tunnel outside the factory is no longer fit for purpose and should be demolished?
I'm far from an Alonso fan, but you just can't answer a mild criticism with an egotistic and arrogant response from the boss without making matters worse (he's dealing with a champion driver, not his 15-yr-old son). Especially when the guy is right, doing miracles with the car he has, therefore living with his end of the bargain. You can only expect such a driver to put up with crap like that for so long without getting frustrated. And if I was Lucca, I rather know he's frustrated by a public comment than not knowing. And maybe that's the only way for Alonso to get his attention, no? Hard to know how things are internally right now, but we know for sure driving for Ferrari is not a walk in the park for drivers. That's probably why Vettel is in no rush to move right now. A stressful environment is NOT what you want, when just not winning is stressful enough for top riders.
That's very true. I don't know if it's because it's an Italian team, but there is always lots of politics, back-stabbing, rumours, and intrigues at the Scuderia. It's even more felt when the results are not to expectations. Lots of egos to deal with, plus the Italian press, etc... It was a bit better under Todt/Brawn, but now it's gone back to being a shooting gallery. Many drivers couldn't put up with that and left in disgust. Alonso could be the next one. I don't know why Vettel, with almost 4 titles in the bag, would ever contemplate moving to Ferrari. The team is nothing special, and the atmosphere is atrocious.
+1 Vettel--ANY driver---would be crazy to leave a team with Adrian Newey designing the cars. Period, end of discussion. And did I hear that Ross Brawn will be available soon ?? Yes, I know he doesn't design the car but it cant hurt and his record at F is a bit better than SD. And to echo everyone else, Mont should be leading the "team" charge with positive talk and leave the ass-kicking for behind the scenes. No Alonso fan here but he ain't the problem.... Bill
And what if LdM has heard from Vettel that he may be available sooner then expected and he's trying to get rid of FA? Just saying...
Doubt it. Vettel would be a fool to leave Red Bull while Newey is churning out championship-winning cars and Ferrari can't find their ass with either hand. All the best, Andrew.
Losers can have a long list of excuses....pages, and pages of them Winners find solutions. Drivers today can cry about the car, MS never did that, he worked with his engineer(s) to find a way ...that's the answer. If Ferrari could find me (a fat man) a much faster car , even I would have a chance at winning titles. If its all about the car, what do we need a top notch driver for ? Fred has been a cheater since his early days, i still think of him that way, he should have never been under the Ferrari banner. Again, winners find solutions. Actually, no I don't. Thank god for the Internet to help me though
Alonso is correct. Ferrari are behind, and the internal team is coming apart. #2 driver should have been replaced for this year - love Massa, but he's past it, bad car is not helping. LDM needs to start to put pressure on at home and pay attention him self. He is where the buck stops... he needs to get the folks focused.
Yes, I'd agree. He stands as much chance as becoming the WDC at Fezza as the outstanding Alesi did. They need new blood, excluding Fred. Merc pilfered everyone they can and the results are undeniable, Fezz needs to follow their lead. Had they snatched Kubica during his first winning season, they could have had quite a few talents from Fauxtus follow him. I believe They should grab Hulk cheap and use the residual savings to raid Renault, FI and Woking if they want to make a difference. Maybe the Pollock squad too, wherever they may be...
Wait...I thought Mercedes are only doing well because of (take your pick) Lewis Hamilton or cheating with testing. ^^p.s. that's a joke.
DiMontezemelo and Alonso should both be eliminated from Ferrari. Two total rectums with bad karma. Then that team will start winning again.
What AlCaponso said is that for his birthday on Monday he would have wanted a Red Bull, at which remark Vettel commented that it wasn't nice thing to say for Ferrari's team. Journos ...
These are the same fools that sacked raikkonnen to bring on a driver with such a sketchy history. Alonso has been patient ill give him that but red bull will never take him. Vettel wont allow it.
OK, I'm no F1 expert but isn't Alonso being paid more than 2X what Vettel's being paid at Red Bull? It's certainly not for the privilege of driving the red car. So he's not exactly being treated badly.
With all of the media days and all of the interviews, how often can he repeat that the team is working on the car? IMO he's a little tired, good thing the summer break is here for everyone to chill out and relax a bit.
Fred couldn't exist with Hamilton at McLaren, so how anyone thinks it is even remotely possible he can exist with Vettel at Red Bull is beyond me. Fred and Ferrari made their bed, now they can lie in it.
I don't understand why everybody assumes that Alonso is flattering an inferior Ferrari but don't consider that Vettel, Hamilton and Raikkonen are not driving their cars at even higher levels and better results.
I don't think anyone on the inside of F1 would agree that such is the case, much less the fans. If Alonso had an equal car, he would be in position to win races. Since the Spanish Grand Prix, the Ferrari has just fallen off a cliff while the other contenders have raised their game.
MS did this through testing. Testing is banned now so there is no answer where Alonso can just work harder and help the team solve THEIR problem, unless the FIA reinstate testing. Pete
