True. I still am glad that he speaks his mind. Enzo would be proud. It is rare enough in today's PC world. I totally love him calling RB a soft drink maker.
At the end of the day Fred is venting as the F138's race pace vanished, most likely due to the new spec tires which seem to favor MB. Curious to see if this continues in the next few races. If so Ferrari have a right to be pissed, and if the rumors of a Michelin return are true, they should be the first to move. LDM rebuking Fred was the right thing to due publicly, but deep down inside LdM knows Fred is right.
For Your Information: Michelin has staged a press conference for the middle of this week, this officially "to make a declaration regarding Formula One". Speculation are rife, but most people seem to believe that they would announce a return for 2015... Rgds
Montezemolo "Fernando is a great driver and I understand him, he is a bit like me: he wants to win." Yeah .. he is a bit like you ... what a joke.
LdM yesterday- "Let me make it clear that it's Ferrari I'm interested in. "Drivers, we've had a lot, some very good, some great, but drivers come and go, while Ferrari remains." 'Drivers come and go, Ferrari remains' | Planet F1 | Formula One News
For a man that turned around Ferrari's fortunes and for someone who has overseen 8 constructors championships and 6 drivers championships, he certainly has his critics.
Ferrari is like the NY Yankees-if they don't win the year is a failure. Newey is the all star MVP who won't sign with the yanks lol.
Regaining that reputation back is in part because of Luca. They hadn't won a constructors for 8 seasons before he was appointed chairman, nor had a Ferrari driver won a driver's championship in over a decade. They have hit a wall of sorts, but I have nothing but admiration for what he has done for that company on and off the track.
Don't get me wrong he did a phenomenal job with the f1 team in the mid 70s and road car division in the 90s. But his day of glory is gone. I see him more of an annoyance then anything. If you want to give him the credit for 8/6 wins then you can also say he has overseen the loss of 33 WCC and 35 WDCs.
They have only won 16 constructors in their entire existence, half of which under Luca. Not a bad legacy to have coupled with his saving of the company. I find him insightful, honest and the issues he raises often very valid. Each to their own I guess, but I have no doubt Enzo would of been proud of what Luca has achieved.
I agree. People like to complain and posture like an expert. I'd like the people who complain about LdM to suggest an appropriate successor. They cannot because there is no one more appropriate for the job than Lucca. LdM is a manager that was hand picked and mentored by Enzo.
Well, I wonder if there is something more in this sentence than it appears at first glance (or hear!)...it seems to me more or less a quote from the "Grand Old Man" himself, a way for Luca to say that he is now the one holding the torch. And this is right for me. Rgds
