Anyone heading up to the Monticello Motor Club this weekend?
Great article in te Bergen Record today about the facility. Great story as well about the people involved and the eventual evolution of the concept. I'm looking forward to the MMC being a great destination...
Jim, I assume you got to drive the track. What did you bring? (And how did you choose from all your gorgeous cars?)
Wow! What a great event today! They have really done a tremendous job with the facility there, and in such a short period of time. Has a nice upscale look and feel, with some very nice amenities, including some very cool racing simulators with the Monticello track 'in the game'. We were able to do about 3 laps, in groups of 4 cars with a pace car leading us around. I was fortunate enough to be in the first group of 4, with Jim in the P4/5 up in front - can't imagine a better view than following that car around the track (aside from behind the driver's seat). The track has been designed and engineered very well, providing for a truly great driving experience. I'm sure they must have sold some memberships after today... I will post up some pics/video later... Many thanks to WWOC and MMC for such an amazing event!
It is some track. It's very long with many interesting corners including a fantastic corkscrew. The Staff is Top Drawer and I'm really happy I'm a Founding Member. I can't wait until it opens and to drive my Le Mans cars there. A friend signed up after his laps.
Missed it due to driving progeny all over Pennsylvania. I was considering putting a Noble up there but I just can't make the time.....
I couldn't have said it better myself. I was in the third group and just beat the rain. Still grinning from ear to ear.
I was the lucky person to follow Jim around this amazing track. Jim, thanks for the perfect line that I followed. It was an honor to chase you around the track and listen to the p4/5 concert music playing from the twin exhausts. This is truly a world class venue.
My Brother and I were up in the AM (he is a founding member) and really enjoyed the facility. The temporary club house was so nice, that I will be amazed to see the permanent structure next year. The track was spectacular! Very well laid out and both technically challenging and exhilarating. In the morning we did a few sessions of follow the leader and then instructors (professional drivers, and what a great cast of drivers there was) in the cars with us to show us some of the finesse areas and what their thoughts were on the proper line. Overall a great day.....The TR was fun on the track, the GT3-RS was an animal! Cannot wait until it is open fully. While we missed the rain at the track, we did get hit on the way back to NJ.....also I got paced by a NYSP crusier for a few miles, yet picked my brother off several miles ahead and gave him a BS inop tail light ticket that he said was not working when he pulled him over...intermittent issue you will have to fix....BS....
Wow! Only caught the last half hour of the show, but that was excellent! Well done, Jim! Great discussion on the development of the P4/5 and I applaud your commentary on the economy and the market. Any idea if it is going to re-air or if it will be available on their website? Definitely want to watch that from the beginning...
WTF I kept checking BTV from 10p to after 11 when 'Muse' came on. Nothing about Monticello or anything car related for that matter. Best I can tell there's only one Bloomberg channel.
It was there 4 sure. Started at 10:30 pm. Night Talk it will be on tonight as well and on Sunday night. Check Bloomberg.com for times I think 8pm tonight. It will then be on their web site and it also streams from this link: http://www.bloomberg.com/streams/video/LiveBTV200.asxx Here's info on the Club: http://www.monticellomotorclub.com/home.html
Hmmm. The old site had less Flash so the info comes up much faster. The old site also has the init fee at $100K instead of $125K. I like the old site.
