He's been like that for a while. It seems that Montoya keeps himself busy eating arepas (Colombian quesadillas) when at home and big macs when on the run..... Maybe the Toyota engine pic is the reason why Eddie Jordan is considering stepping back from the racing part of his team.
The new Mc Laren seems to be incredibly tight in dimensions. I read that even test driver Wurz will not be able to fit into the racing version of it (too tall) and has to have a special test version.
All the exersize his mouth gets you'd expect him to remain quite svelte. This weeks episode: From: http://sport.guardian.co.uk/formulaone/story/0,10069,1388146,00.html Coulthard failed, says Montoya Juan Pablo Montoya yesterday accused David Coulthard, his predecessor at McLaren, of failing to make the most of his opportunities with the team, now without a constructors' championship title for six years. Speaking in London, Montoya, who finished five places ahead of the 10th-placed Scot in last year's drivers' championship, said: "David had his chances. He was here a long time. Mika Hakkinen won the championship twice [during that time]." ... For now Montoya is happy to focus on achieving what Coulthard, who now drives for Red Bull Racing, could not, although his record of four wins in four years for Williams compares unfavourably with the Scot's 13 in 10 seasons.
El Gordo ("The Fat Man") is what he is referred to these days. You can search on google and see what comes up: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22el+gordo%22+montoya&btnG=Google+Search
Hey, you all might think all the above is fabricated BS for your entertainment. But I read on F1racing.net something VERY interesting. It would appear the JPM is blaming the Williams team for his...ahem...excess baggage. He said that when he showed up for his first day of work Franky told him, "Geesh! You are FAT!" "In all the years I was with the team "THEY" did nothing to help me. They just kept saying I was fat." So now that he is at MacLand, they have sent him to DC's old trainer (I think?) to get him into shape. "Mac is the first team to do something about my weight issue." Ok, I have a stupid question. Since when is it the team's responsibility to make sure the driver stays in shape? Gee, what a surprise that he is once again shurking his responsibility. Is Montoya really as dumb as a box of rocks - as I have been saying all these years?!?!?!? Gentlemen, I rest my case! Jim It's Urine Problum, not Whines Problum Moantooyah!
Maybe, but if your team mate is fit with talent the race gets alot harder The finnish magazines has also declared Montoya fat, but i thought they were a bit biased... ...If only Kimi drove for Ferrari, then I would know who/what team to support !
He's been rather chubby for the past few years hasn't he? And as for the comment about Coulthard not taking full advantage of his opportunity with McLaren... wouldn't he be right?
someone says it.....this is like the emperors new clothes....you could show a film on his butt...............................
Fat or at least stocky in Montoya's case isnt necessarily something bad. Montoya has gone tons of stamina. I dont Montoya has ever dropped out of a race due to exhaustion. Maybe the 10 lbs he could lose would go into ballast at the bottom of the car --> marginally better CoG
Good point. I heard in the aftermath of the Brazilian GP, that Kimi was too exhausted from the counterclockwise circuit to attack JPM any further. Also my former idol Alan Jones wasn't of the slim group either. Nor was my hero after him: Nigel Mansell
I have met Alan quite a few times at some gatherings here in Australia. He lives on the Sunshine Coast. He is in very fit condition for his age at the moment, and his son is doing quite well in Motorsport. He used to do host the F1 coverage here for a long time but that has recently stopped in the wake of a network change. IMO he is a Top bloke.
Alan Jones is a champ, made some absolute perler comments during his F1 career. "About as useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle." -Jonesy describing one of the cars he raced.
