Juan Pablo Montoya has just set the fastest ever Formula 1 lap in Pre-Qualifying, averaging 192.95mph, or 262.2kmph! Naturally he also set the fastest ever Monza lap, a 1:19.525. This is the second time he's broken records at Monza. In 2002 he set the fastest ever Formula 1 lap, and also was the first ever driver to complete a lap in a car where the engine exceeded 19,000rpm.
Montoya is a guy that gets more mention durring a F1 race then any other driver except MS. Montoya also gets more threads on F-chat than the late great Mr. Enzo Ferrari
So much for Montoya mastering Monza.LOL. Fastest EVER lap.....RUBENS in a........ FERRARI! Forza Ferrari!
Wrong. Rubens set the fastest ever race lap, a 1:21.046. Montoya still holds the outright lap record from pre-qualifying, a 1:19.525. "LOL"
He must have had like 3 laps of fuel in the tank when he did that run for he never could get near that pace again
Still wrong, Rubens has the fastest OFFICIAL qualifying time, and the fastest race lap, Montoya's lap does not count as a pre-qualifying time is not recorded so he does not hold the the title as fastest lap... (he may have been fastest, but it will not be recorded) Montoya just cannot seem to convert his overhyped talent into a podium finish.... I am afraid he is more mouth than driver.....
Bottom line , I can't take JPM anymore. Aside from his complaining, whining and little remarks, and blaming everone else for his woes, what pisses me off is that he's a great talent that's going to go to waste because he cannot control his temper. At one time I would have said he aws going to replace MS at Ferrari, not now.
Bottom line, official or not JPM does indeed now have the fastest ever lap recorded at Monza. Just about every test session is recorded nowadays ... yep the lap times do not get written into the record books because lap time have to be in a race to count ... but that would not stop me smiling and feeling justifiably good about that lap. Knock JPM all you want, he still did that lap and it was fncken FAST! Concrats is due and I give him mine. Pete
Come on, this is turning into an "I know you are but what am I?" argument. Juan's lap was faster than Ruben's, or any other lap that has ever been run at Monza. It's an easy concept.
Come on develop some laterial or sensible thinking ... JPM turned a single extremely fast lap, that though is completely different to racing. Credit has to be given where it is due. While JPM is not the best racing driver of all time ... he still turned that lap, and I for one give him credit for that. We did not turn that lap, he did ... and who knows maybe Ron Dennis will be able to help him turn a single lap into a whole race ... ?? Pete
If I had a dollar for every time you've said that or a similar insult about JPM, I could be a pay driver in Formula 1.
And to be honest I cannot think why, he has flashes of brilliance, thats for sure, but as a racer that has to string it together, I don't think so. It will be interesting to see how he copes next year, I am still not sure that Ron has the car sorted yet.
