I don't think I caught the film "On the Beach" back in '59 and don't have the Netflix account where you can order any old film but I was reading today that Max Balchowsky, Chuck Porter and Skip Hudson were all involved in the film On the Beach , a post WWIII type movie made in 1959 where Fred Astaire, yes the song and dance man, was piloting a Ferrari in a sort of end-of-the-world race. I thought I read someplace else that Phil Hill drove it and crashed it but maybe that was the movie The Racers which started Kirk Douglas. Anyway it says in this newspaper story that the studio bought the Ferrari and rented it to the producers, I was wondering if it had the stock engine then or whether Max shoved in a Chevy? I know of studios that bought Rolls Royces and Hispanos and Duesenbergs (there used to be a garage in LA that housed all these cars before they sold them off) but didn't know about studio owned Ferraris.

Here's the website I saw the story on, like to hear recollections of what this car was kicking around for when the studio bought it or what the studio sold it for

And , if you can see the movie on Netflix, give us a movie review even if it is 64 years too late to benefit the ticket sales. I have a feeling I'd rather see Astaire tap dancing than race driving...
