    Hey all,

I live in DC but will be up in NYC this weekend, any suggestions for a place to watch the F1 Monza race Sunday morning?
I'll be around Lexington Ave and East 51st Street.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know your particular area in NYC, but I'm sure there will be no shortages of sports bars which will get the race.....

Sounds like you're at or near the Doubletree (I know that place because that's where I get my hair cut, isn't that interesting?). Anyway, call them (or whichever your hotel) to make sure that they have Speed on their room TVs. As for sports bars, I'm not aware of any in that neighborhood (plus it will be at 7:30 a.m., bars in NYC will have barely closed at 4 a.m.!) so it might be a tough find at that time of Sunday morning. Maybe check the ESPN Zone in Times Square, it's a 15 minute walk and they have lots of screens. Being in the heart of Tourista Centrale might mean that they will be open serving Bloody Marys or something.

    Good luck!

    John

UPDATE: Looks like ESPN Zone won't work because they don't open until 11 a.m. http://www.espnzone.com/newyork/directions.shtml

It's a long shot, but you can give the Ferrari showroom on Park a ring to see if they are doing anything for the Italian GP.

too bad about ESPN Zone, but thanks for the info. and yes, i'll be at the doubletree; who as I just figured out will not have Speed. I'll call some places at Times Square tomorrow, maybe you're right that one of them will show the race.

Hey, this is a real long shot, but this place has hosted Formula 1 Meetups in NYC, most recently just last Sunday for the Belgian GP. The Meetup website doesn't show an event for Monza but then I haven't signed up. Check it out, who knows?

PS If you need a haircut, ask for Tony or Pat at the Doubletree. Around $23 which is decent for NYC, plus they are pros. Skip the shoe shine, there are better places for a shine.

Hey, I was in the neighborhood today so I stopped in at The Australian and asked the very attractive blonde Aussie barmaid if they would be open early for the Monza GP this Sunday. She said that she thought they would be but to call the number above and ask for Matt. He's the organizer. Not a bad looking bar, hadn't ever been down that block before.

    Aight...

I just called The Australian. They ARE doing a Formula1 viewing party but not live... They're opening at 11:30 and will start the race play back about that time.
