Sutil Force India-Ferrari (B) 1:37.417 My prediction: 1) Kovalainen 2) Massa 3) Vettel
All depends on what the weather will be like. With rain: 1) Kovalainen 2) Rosberg 3) Vettel No rain: 1) Kovalainen 2) Massa 3) Hamilton
I can't argue because I don't know what the setups of the cars are: Vettel (albeit a super talent and all) might have profited from a total wet setup and the Ferraris might be sprung stiffly with little downforce in anticipation of a dry race. Who knows and who knows what the weather will be like. PS: Outside my window it looks precisely like Monza and we're supposed to go on a drive tomorrow. Pitty that.
I am in sunny Mexico. Andreas, do you buy into this possible one stopper for Massa? I can not remember ever Ferrari on a one stop strategy.
No way. Not even sure he'd have enough fuel for a one stopper, particularly in dry conditions (one stoppers make no sense in changing conditions) given how fast this track is.
+1 I agree, but it does allow more flexibility as quicker pitstops if all he is doing is having his tire changed. Fueling is what costs time, and should the condition dictates that everyone makes two stops, one of his stops will be quicker thus may give him the advantage.
Not quite: If it rains, the differences in driver performance will be a much bigger factor than some seconds saved during a pitstop. Furthermore the time you loose on a pitstop is not so much the sitting time (8 seconds), but the time to get there and drive out again (20 seconds). If it is wet, there will be a lot of additional pitstops just to change tires and fuel strategy becomes irrelevant.
If the track doesn't become a river tomorrow, Kovalinen will win. He's the only one in a top car to be in front.
Remember, though, that if he's one stopping he's got a heavier, and therefore slower, car early in each stint than have his two-stopping opponents.
1) Heikki 2) Vettel 3) Massa This is the hardest predicament so far this year. Although Massa has always been my favorite, I think he would have to have a great start to take 3rd. My guess is truly a guess, it seems this is such a wild grid... Rain will obviously play such a huge factor in this race, even light rain Vs. hard rain and will tend to have me switching my positions over and over...
Weather: Hard rain over night Rain in the morning Light rain at race time That should make for a really wet track...
I would love to see Vettel win but realistically it all depends on the first corner after that I can tell you. Massa should be able to podium tomorrow, for Hamilton and Raikkonen its a bit of a stretch.
From a Machiavellistic point of view, we should actually be glad that Kimi is keeping company with Hamilton. He'll hopefully prevent Hamilton from ploughing through the field.
If wet, Lewis ( Mr Short cut) Heikki (Mr No 2) Massa (Mr Spin) If Dry Heikki (Mr Temporary No 1) Massa (Mr No spins in the dry) Alonso (Mr No one wants me) But I'm expecting a big 1st corner shunt with so many people at the back of the grid who will be trying to make up places !!
If it's dry then it will be mostly down to racecraft and if Ferrari and Kimi can get his car set up correctly for him, then... KR LH HK PM If it rains... It's up for grabs because of how much luck is involved.
Are guys serious ? i have seen a few of you thinking that Kimi and Lewis can win tomorrow if its dry ? Sure it could happen, but its a real long shot, its not as easy as people think to over take at Monza. Alonso in 2006, with possibly the best car on the grid made little head way before his engine popped after starting mid grid ! I can see lewis and Kimi getting up into the points if its a straight forward dry race, but both of them getting past Heikki, Massa and the BMW's is quite a challenge, will be an awsome race if they do! If its wet, i would not be suprised at all to see Lewis win though, unless Kimi takes sick during the night and the Schum is brought in !!
Don't forget that we don't know what setups are on Kimi's and Hami's cars: They might be on a dry weather setup and all the cars ahead of them on a wet setup. Not that that is very likely, but we don't know. Way too many variables.
Very true, they could be set-up more for the dry then many in front of them. But Lewis and Kimi failed to get into Q3 because of the timing of the weather (Hamilton opted for a set of intermediates at the start of Q2), Lewis was setting good times in Q1.. I did just read that Ron Denis says the Toro Rosso 's are running high downforce, which will hamper them badly in the race, Berger rejected Dennis' claim though ! http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/080913181531.shtml
I have a lot of faith in KR since he singed a new contract with Ferrari and I am thinking that he is set up for a dry race tomorrow and a full load of fuel. I think the new contract was a boost for him and all of the bad luck that he has been having recently has been because of him worrying so much about his position in Ferrari for next year, now the contract is signed and it is a new beginning for KR and Ferrari!
