I’m sorry, having to wear a helmet to drive a street car on the street doesn’t work for me. I can’t understand what Ferrari was thinking, I can’t understand what the buyers of the monza were thinking. There I have said it, fastening my seatbelt.
The SP1 and SP2 are not street legal cars. Track only. Hence the helmet. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Interesting....in the US it is not. Track only. The other reason for the helmet, is that there is no windshield. Maybe a set of fancy goggles is all you need in your country. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
No. A 488 Challenge with a roll cage, bucket seats, racing harnesses, a fire suppressant system and no glass is a track car. A barchetta with none of these safety features and no windscreen is not a track car. It’s rolling art that won’t be hardly ever driven and as I wrote above I don’t get it.
I wouldnt mind the helmet or any sort of protective eye wear if i knew the Police or my insurance wouldnt f*** me just if i drove it in the US. I agree with Mark, what was Ferrari thinking (or not). Id love to see the reason why this one was not homologated for the US market. Is it the lack of windshield?
There does seem to be a few US cars being driven around, probably bc they have just been delivered and owners want to try them...I wonder if they will in fact drive them often (as often as a $1.6m Ferrari gets driven...)?
Again, it’s track only in the US. Call it what you wish. Take it up with Ferrari lol Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app

I drove an SP2 at Fiorano with an open face helmet and a pair of sunglasses and it was uncomfortable because of the wind at high speed getting around the sunglasses. Definitely recommend a full face or pull down visor to avoid the wind in the eyes. I guess it depends if your out for a cruise or planning more aggressive driving. The factory has approved and confirmed my build (livery), but I have never been given a delivery date and now with the Covid 19 shut down, who knows? I would be surprised if 25% of the 499 total production have been completed. I think it could take another year to finish the complete run. I am in no rush, but I’m sure Ferrari will want to bank the profits on this model, the margins must be enormous. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
It is not the only road car out there that is best driven with a helmet on. If you drive cars like the ATOM, the KTM X-bow, the BAC Mono and some Caterhams, you need a helmet. The new MacLaren Elva and the new Aston also need helmets I spent a year with a X-bow and had lots of fun btw If you ride motorcycles, the concept of a road vehicle that necessitates a helmet is not alien to you. The appeal of the Monza is that it is beautiful, extreme, emotional and impractical. If it is practicality you need, you buy a Toyota. Oh and wearing a helmet makes it hard to pose as your face doesn’t show Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat

Wearing helmet in a street car is a nuissance, just like having to put on a jacket, gloves, boots and etcetera to ride a bike. But for this car, I´d be willing to do the sacrifice.
Agree with you that many find it beautiful and I don’t need a Toyota, an 812 for 1/6 th of the cost will be just fine.
Yes please! We need more impractical Ferraris. Not all Ferraris should be practical but rather be a real event to drive.
