Well, I don't speak Italian, but I think I know the gist of it. In the other thread about this I questioned the demographics of the area surrounding the track. By that I mean, how long have these people lived near the race track? How many of the homes in the area were there 50+ years ago? 25? I have a hunch that the track was originally built on the outskirts of town, and people have built closer to the track over the years. I could be wrong, but this sounds just like the airport issues we have here. People live near the airports and complain that now there are too many flights. Because I suppose 3 planes per minute are so much easier to deal with than 4. So, I guess we'll see how the people of Monza truly feel about their race track, its history and the supposed passion for motorsports.
Monza isn't really a driver's circuit. It is quite the opposite. Monza has tradition as its plus. Just about everything else there sucks: Boring track, no elevation changes, pitiful infrastructure for spectators, limited viewing. Having said all that: I still prefer it over Imola and Italy needs one GP. Simply by track layout my vote would go for Mugello. But they don't really have stands etc there to accomodate F1 on a big scale.
well, ur right about the driver circuit thing. but i'm just a bit frustrated over the loss of spa, and possibly suzuka, two of the best circuits around. imo, imola is not a nice circuit to race on. just a euro version of suzuka.
The loss of historic circuits is saddening and just for that Monza should stay. Sorry to pick on you again, but why is Imola the Euro Suzuka? I don't see that at all: Suzuka is a very technical circuit with all kinds of turns and most significantly one of the few figure 8 circuits in use today. Suzuka is deliberately so technical because it is a test circuit. Imola was never designed for testing. Imola has a lot of history and a few good corners left (Aqua minerale, ravazza), but was never that technical nor special. It has a special place in many of our hearts for its tragedy (Berger accident, Senna and Ratzenberger) and being the Tifosi's backyard, but as a racetrack it has lived past its prime, especially after they chicaned the hell out of it. It's biggest problem is that being boxed into the public park it is limited by the river nearby. So in order to meet modern safety regulations they can't add run off areas but have to limit the speed with even further chicanes. You see where I'm going with this.
I signed the petition. If you haven't signed it and need more persuading then please read this: http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_news_item.php?fes_art_id=27487
