I'm jumping the gun here by starting this thread despite the fact that Spa comes first. I have no choice as I'll be leaving next week for Europe. Not even sure I'll get a chance to see the Spa race on TV. But I know this: I'll be at Monza Hoping to meet up with some FChatters there. And since Fast_Ian and Aircon don't believe anything without pictures, I'll have some of that too after my return.
I hope Alonso doesn't win! I'll pray for a max of 4th place for him, that should be enough to not push him over the threshold of doing too well vs not well enough. I just can't stand the thought of some Ferrari fans hating yet another driver for winning too much.
Hummm, not sure about your view point here about Alonso and especially Ferrari, but I for one wants Ferrari to kick butt at Monza... And who cares about a specific driver winning a lot... Go Ferrari!
I will go there eventually, no question. Last time in Stuttgart they were still setting up the new Porsche museum. Visited the old one instead. Again. But this trip is already loaded with side excursions and stop overs (which is why I'm already leaving). One of them being the newly remodeled car museum in Turin, where there is a great emphasis on Ferrari. PS: I have so many travel plans, it always takes me years to get around to implement an idea. Case in point: Still working on "the Da Vinci Code" on this trip. And that movie is now like 6 years old?
Yup, should be a blast. I'm always trying to avoid summer in Europe because you guys don't know what proper A/C is. Even the US hotel chains loose the cooling plot over there.
Have a great time with the most fanatical Tifosi in the World! (Even though It's not the real Monza!: "BRING BACK THE BANKING!" ) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Where are you sitting Andreas? For the race, I sat outside near the top row at the S/F line. the other days, I just walked the track.
Believe me if the weather in England is anything to go by, aircon (I don't mean are resident aussie poster), is last thing you need. Have a great time, respect I expect some photo's of the local cuisine.
I Think there is another reason why you´re going to Monza ( you secretly expect a new replacement for massa is being anounced!!)
You convinced me to give it another shot. Roger Willco. Keeping my eyes peeled for Piccata Milanese and Cassata. Actually there is and it even has something to do with the Ferrari team but chances of it not coming through are great so I won't count any chicken at this point. And no, I don't expect an announcement regarding Massa just yet.
Andreas-buona fortuna a la gara e speriamo che vince alonso!!! Monza and Spa are going to be interesting races in that after hungary pat fry said that they understood what works/doesn't work on the F2012 and accordingly will have upgrades for both races. If he's right it could be tough to catch fred; if he's wrong fred will have to continue to work miracles with clifford and phil will continue to remain useless. I'm glad f1 is back with back to back races on 2 of the best circuits....
Not according to the drivers!: http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2012/7/13631.html Bruno Senna, Williams: The Hungaroring is one of the most challenging tracks we visit all year. Technically its a real test and its quite a slow lap so reminds me in some respects of Monaco..... I have done well here in the past, particularly in GP2 in 2008, so Im looking forward to this weekend. Mark Webber, Red Bull: "The Hungaroring is a good little venue and weve had some good races there in the past....In general, its a track that I enjoy, I like driving there......" Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull: ".....The track itself is one of the slowest on the calendar, but as a driver you shouldnt underestimate it, as there are a lot of opportunities to make mistakes....." Michael Schumacher, Mercedes: " I'm looking forward to this weekend's race because I really enjoy the Hungarian Grand Prix. It's a circuit where the drivers are always busy around the lap, it's really demanding and there are barely any opportunities to catch your breath." To quote but a few.
New member here, going to Monza for the first time, sitting in Piscina stand. Been to other GP in Detroit(years ago on the downtown streets) and Indianapolis. None of these will compare to being at Monza with thousands of crazed Ferrari fans. It's also my and my wifes first time to Europe and we absolutely cannot stand ourselves with excitement.
I still don´t like it, and most of the races there show it´s a boring place....although i remenber Nigel´s victory in 89...that was a blast!!!
A blast it must have been indeed! Such as you are under a slight confusion... Podium in 1989 was Prost (1st) / Berger /Boutsen Mansell won the Italian Grand Prix once, in 1991. Best
Haven't you noticed that drivers "quotes" are always sugar coated nonsense? They are not allowed to speak the bare truth about anything anymore. (politics?) Hungaroring is definitely a boring circuit, but it is always sold out, so it has odds to remain on the calendar for a while. I'm 100% sure that if any F1 driver could pick between racing at Hungaroring or San Marino, they would pick San Marino.
