That's pretty good. Shoot, I can carry two people at 8000 feet at 180 knots and burn 38 gallons and hour, more if I am carrying ordinance...
I used to correspond with a great guy , Brad W., who flew Curtiss Condors for American Airlines in the early thirties. If you recall, that was a beautiful twin-engined fabric covered biplane. He told that if you didn't get that airplane slowed down before starting your final, you would end up scooting across the field forever. That old bus was clean and fast for an antique but like any airplane, I was taught to pull the nose up a bit to get to approach speed, trim it, and hold it there, and adjust with power.
Hi Rob, this is a 1965 C model that I've owned for 10 years, I've done quite a few 201 mods, the Powerflow exhaust and the three blade prop. I cruise on average 160kts ground at full throttle and 2500 rpm's with no wind. Most bang for the buck and a rock solid platform. On the other side of the coin, I also have a 1946 Aeronca Champ, 90 banging HP, that I put on floats and ski's, a lot of fun. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
