Does that gray 348 belong to Chris H? I dated his sister about 25 years ago, and he used to have two 944 Turbo's and was active in the Porsche club. Have not seen him in a LONG time but was thinking about him the other day and wondering if he still had the 348 and any of the 944's anymore.

Sorry I missed out this year. I had already planned a 928 gathering for lunch today so had to be there...

It may have used to belong to Chris but now it's David Moore's car.

    Looks like a Party!!!!

The grey 348 came out very nice, David.

Fixed the Post, we discussed last week.

The car rolled thru the rigors of the Parade just fine, with the hood taped closed! LOL!

Geez, everyone is always embarrassed to post RWHP numbers on Ferraris because everyone has the optimistic factory and magazine numbers in their head. :D

    My 328 RW’s at 220 and 355 C at 315.

I recall mid 400 range (438 jumps to mind) for the 599... That seemed low to me by a LOT, isn't that car supposed to make like 612HP at the crank?

The 599 made just under 480 at the wheels or around 600 at the crank (20% loss/chassis dyno) and it was hot as hell by then and very humid. Also even in manual mode and race/sport mode, the car would shift to top gear 200 rpm before redline which is where peak HP was recorded by Ferrari I believe.

Also remember this is an eddie current dyno not an inertia dyno that inflates the numbers. I've never been able to tune a car on an inertia dyno and get out on the road or track and not have to tune it a great deal more.

So far this Mustang eddie current dyno is spot on to real world/track conditions. I have not had to make any tuning changes coming off the dyno afterwards. Afterall that is what a dyno is supposed to be, a tool to tune with.....

I'll post a few dyno run graphs shortly.

    David,

Good info about the dyno. Didn't know which one you were using. That 599 number sounds more accurate too even with a shift 200 rpm short. Is that gray 348 Hand's old car? Was thinking about him the other day and wondering what he was up to and what he was driving. First time we re-met he had two 951's.

Yes, I took it on trade on his old 951 after I restored it complete. Now I have completely restored the 348. Mechanically we had taken care of his car for 10 years but he eventually got behind. We did panel off paint job, new carbon front bumper, engine out for major "plus", new clutch & flywheel, tires, interior out and refurbished, even fixed the "mouse" seatbelt system, new electric window motors and central locking motors, had the wheels repaired and refinished, installed a 360 Mexico pro stereo system, widened the track, etc, etc. check out http://moorespeed.com/sales/cars/index.html and then click on the link for the 348 second down and you will see it turned out extremely nice. As you know I'm extremely picky and left no stone unturned putting this Ferrari back 100% for myself. I was going to sell my 308 but man that is tough. The 348 is cool, but nobody has a 308 that looks as good as mine nor handles as well with the 360 shoes and Moton dbl adjustables I installed. I'd love just to keep both. However, I am selling it to finance a off grid solar power system for my home. So if you know someone that wants a "cherry" 348 and one of only 2 ever made in Grigio Metalic, help a brother out.

WOW! You took care of EVERYTHING on that car! Someone will get a real winner with it for sure! Good luck! Like the thought of going off grid too!

    James,

speaking of off grid, here is my vegetable garden I built myself. Everything is up out of the soil now including the Italian Spinach. Between the terrain of my property and the pet deer of Westlake, it was not your normal off grid garden. Power & Water are next, and I'm very serious about finding the very latest technology that is cost effective as well as efficient.

Im sure you are aware of this, but the city of Austin will help you pay for your solar installation. Ive also been considering the same thing for a while. Should be a fun project.

That is great looking work David. It needs a bright yellow SF Sheild on it somewhere. Do you think it will keep the critters out? What other Italian veggies are you growing? How about a Spaghetti Squash? Your neighbors are going to love you man.

They would like you to believe that is true, but simple fact it is not. I had them come out 2 years ago and they wanted to cut down "all" my trees around the house for the rebate.

Being an Architectural Engineer who used to specialize in high rise contracting on the MEP side I have a little bit of knowledge of solar angles, azimuths, the like for calculating solar loads and proper "peak time". The city of Austin is "way" behind the technology in their assessment using only old conventional systems. Needless to say I was EXTREMELY disappointed.

The garden came out nice. You may have to keep an eye on the deer as they may try to jump the fence. Not sure how high your fence it, but they can jump over 5' fences, but they struggle on 6 foot fences.
