OK, found the tag (paint code) on my car under the engine lid and it says something like: Saichi Questa Vettura E Stata Verniciata con smalto 633.4.015 What the hell does this mean in english?
Can't help you with everything, but I believe I can give you some of what you request: Saichi = ? Questa = This Vettura = Car E = and Stata = ? vernicata = painted con = with smalto = enamel 633.4.015 = probably a paint color or type code (Saihi) This car and (Stata) painted with enamel 633.4.015 Hope this helps somewhat Best Wishes
A little bit more info "saichi" is actually spelt "salchi" which were the paint manufacturers "Glidden Salchi". The paint code 633.4.015 crosses over with two possibilities, which are:- 133-A-5 which is Azzurro Met. (A light metalic blue) or 133-Y-15 which is Oro Chiaro (Gold) More than likely the metalic blue was the original colour, but who knows. Hope this helps a bit. MW
Hey this helps a lot. My car is the Oro Chiaro Metallico (burnt gold metallic) and appears to be the original paint, so I just wanted to double check with the paint code on the car. Sounds like it is right, and after checking the car rather well, it certainly doesn't appear to have been repainted and the previous owner represented this way as well. My local PPG paint guy came up with a "104" for the paint code for the car (just from year and type and a color chart) which he can then transfer to the PPG number. I didn't realize the "salchi" was part of the Glidden name. Anyway, thanks everyone for replying. Or rather, GRAZIE!
The new paint will be a urethane, old stuff will be removed, sealed, etc. Were you suggesting to repaint with the old type?
