Next month there will be a 575 GTC or something as that. It will be a racing version with different suspension, the same brakes as the Enzo and other upgrades better for the track. There is still talk about the hard retractable top version for next summer and there will certainly be a more powerful engine.
The ? Monza is likely to have the 430 engine, not 420 and some of the "spy" photos showing an Enzo - like rear are on the money. 'Still nothing definite. This car is likely to be a coupe, not a rag top at first.
All per my source at FNA.

is your source suggesting that there will actually be a road car called something like a 575 GTC? that seems very unlikely - and i've gotten staunch denial-like responses from my people. i can believe there could be a GTC suspension upgrade that maybe would replace the FHP or be available instead of the FHP - presumably way stiffer and racier.

    but another car?

didn't we have this discussion a month ago? :)

It will not be a new car, but rather the current 575 with changes appropriate for the track, yes, stiffer suspension.

Dudeboy, according to my man at FOH, the GTC is an option on the 575M that includes an upgraded FHP, carbon brakes, and tons and tons of carbon fiber on the inside. Cost is supposed to be $25k.

So the "new" Maranello will be out next Summer? Any word on $$$$.

If they do the retractable top, I sure hope that it looks as good as the MB/SL and not the Lexus....

575 GTC info from Ferraro Owner's Site

Following on from the success of privately-entered 550 Maranellos in international GT racing, including a historic class win in the 2003 Le Mans 24 Hours, Ferrari has developed its own in-house evolution of the new 575M Maranello, the 575 GTC (where the C stands for Competizione).

Developed specifically for the FIA GT and GrandAm championships, the 575 GTC berlinetta features considerable modifications, starting with an increase in displacement from the production car’s 5,748 cc to 5,997 cc with a slightly longer stroke. Specific cam timing and Marelli engine management with the FIA regulation 31.8mm restrictors see power increase to 600 bhp which, when matched by the longest gearing of the optional final drives available, ensures a theoretical top speed of 335 km/h (208 mph). The gearing for Monza allows an effective top speed of 288 km/h (179 mph) and that for Estoril 270 km/h (168 mph).

Front and rear track have both been increased while the car’s dry weight has been drastically reduced to just over the minimum allowed weight of 1150 kg (2,530 lbs) thanks to the use of a specific tubular spaceframe chassis with composite body panels.

Lengthy wind tunnel testing has gone into developing the 575 GTC’s aerodynamics and the car sports a flat underbody with rear diffuser to FIA/ACO regulations, and an adjustable front spoiler together with a split rear wing with Gurney flap. All-round double wishbone suspension features adjustable damping, and adjustable anti-roll bar and anti-dive geometry at the front. Braking is by courtesy of Brembo with 6-pot callipers at the front and 4-pot callipers at the rear.

The ex-factory price of the 575 GTC is 700,000 Euro excluding taxes and delivery.
    ===========

By the way, the rear wing looks like it came straight off an aftermarket Honda Civic

Looks great, but what Joe was describing was just an add on option to the existing car. This looks like a full blown race car.

yeah the "575 GTC" as currently discussed on the F sites is a non-street racing car that costs upwards of half-a-mil.

i think (think) we're talking about an option package to the 575M. 25 large is quite a package!

seems rather pointless unless you're going to track it. now if they want to do it RIGHT and make a "575 GTC Stradale" then that'd be a different discussion ;)

    doody.
