Im not...but many senna*.*´s would...so now THEY HAVE TO KICK THEM OUT apologize or not...damn Dennis, what a mess you´ve made!!! now they will start with some points deductions...we shall see...
The reason why McL has not yet signed the second driver now becomes more clear: money. Kovalainem does not have major sponsors and De la Rosa may have possibly some Spanish backup. With the present financial situation McL may not be able to afford the needed salaries in addition to redesign the new 2008 car and pay the entry fee by February. Ferrari has stated that McLs Mea Culpa amounts to an admission of guilt and is evidence which is contradictory and untruthful with the previous oral and written statements made by McLs top brass to the FIA and the media. So in addition to the above McL will have to pay significant attorney bills and possible monetary damages if Ferrari ultimately wins in the Courts, as F has clearly stated that it will pursue the case. New sponsors will be harder to find in view of the present situation and most likely the funds needed will come from Mercedes or from the Arabs...but is MB or the Sheik willing and if so at what cost? Certainly RD is a survivor...but even some of the British press which were pro RD in the past now are turning against him and it is impossible to believe that he was not aware of the spying or even worse, at this time, that he was not aware their new car did have some Ferrari design input. If not you must believe that he had his eyelids stitched shut...either way Ron's teflon coat is disappearing.
Today's report, Heikki Foursyllablename is close to signing for that seat. McLaren has enough money, and can get more from partial owner Mercedes. A second fast driver is what they need, and one that demonstrated he can drive in the rain. We know McLaren really fouled this up already, time to come up with different threads. So tired of hearing about Ron Dennis.
No kidding Ron. Some people on here are more hate-filled towards Ron Dennis than Max is! How about something new to ***** about guys? Or are you going to string the McLaren bashing out until Ferrari wins 2008 as well? What if Ferrari doesn't win 2008??? We'll call them McCheaters and other (un)amusing names for another whole year?
Let's start a really fun rumor thread to get off of this McLaren thing. Something like Danica is replacing Kimi in 2009 because she has been sleeping with Luca. No better yet, she has been sleeping with Luca's wife and Jean Todt's girlfriend. I want the movie rights.
No, the right hand still can not be used for personal gratification. I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express and take my brand new pain pills just before coming up with that story line. Which by the way Ted, was just for you as I know you regard Danica as highly as I do.
If this were true, which it is not, really, but if it were, I want the job of the "fluffer," or the second string quarter-back. Where does the line start...I was here first! Ciao...Paolo
Mclaren is just playing the "take pity on me card". It's a smart move actually, since it will probably save them millions and keep them in the running for the WCC. Guess that stiff upper lip wasn't stiff enough. I say make them redesign everything that was influenced by Ferrari data, and let them in the '08 season with no penalties. But since this team has lied and lied and lied, the FIA should constantly be looking over their shoulder for the next few season. I know a lot of you want them excluded or want them to start with a negative point count, but Ferrari has said they are ready to put this behind them, at least on the sporting side of things, and if Ferrari (the victim here) is ready to do that I don't see why any of us here should be looking for more blood. Let's get back to racing. Mclaren are probably gonna go into a slump for the next few season anyways.
This was all covered in threads yesterday. There will be no points deduction. The PlantetF1 article is misleading.
I doubt that very much, I think McLaren is going to be highly competitive next season, regardless of holding development on certain technological areas. I would not be surprised to see them win either or both titles next year.
I think that McL will definitely be competitive next year but financially the reigns will be tight which, ultimately, may impact their racing.
McLaren is much more than an F1 team, I read somewhere that they dervice more than half their revenues from business units other than the F1 team. I don't think they are going to have quite the financial squeeze that some here think.
damn! and they had the guts to come out and say they were the best car on the grid baed on their own technology and developments?...they should be given negative points just for that alone!!! ...oh well but, they cant race with the car they submitted for inspection can they? ...they´ll have to design, build, test, and race a new car for the 2008 season?
Kovi to McLaren, FIA investigation closed, they got caught doing what every other team has done since 1950....or prior. And really, the blame belongs firmly on Ferrari's doorstep. Illegal car to start the season with, they had no control over their own employee, etc..etc.. Funny how McLaren took most of not all of the heat all year, when really it was Stepney who started the whole thing. Let's get back to the racing. Bring on the low downforce, no tc and big slicks.
They were found to be poised to use the Ferrari information in the new car, there was nothing the FIA could prove was used. So McLaren agreed to suspend the development of several (I think three) systems that the FIA found to be questionable. They'll be at a disadvantage as the season moves forward but, I think they'll be able to gain performance in different areas. The will not have to design and build another new car for the 2008 season. The FIA is satisfied with the current car and after McLaren bowed down and kissed Max's feet with the apology it appears the next hearing has been called off. I.E. McLaren are free to race and we can try to put all of this behind us.
Right on. In addition, I would imagine that at any given time, any given F1 team is developing 40 or 50 devices on the car, from ECU's, brakes, tires, wings, aero devices, linkages, suspension, bodywork, etc. That 2 or 3 things "could have" been potentially derived from Ferrari is probably not as damning as some are making out. Also, we tend to find common areas of development in F1 all the time (hey! Wait! we should ban everyone!). Ferrari were not the only ones with flexi-floors, and Renault was not the only team using dampers, and McLaren weren't the only ones to put the "viking horns" on their car. Ferrari AND OTHERS put those special non-moving hubs on the car too. Did they co-develop them? Mutually developed independently (anyone really believe that?). What then... yes the answer is obvious! This stuff happens ALL THE TIME, plain as day for all the world to see. McLaren was made an example of - hopefully this can be closed out, forgotten about and we can ALL move on now.
hahahaha you can't call these guys here "apologists" anymore because they're not towing the company line ...... of apologising
Getting ideas from other teams cars when they are in public view is one thing. Having property taken by an employee to another team without permission is completely different. It is stealing and illegal. F1 cannot condone that, If they did, just about every employee would steal their employers ideas and sell them to one or more competitiors. Saying that everybody in F1 does what McL and Renault did is just not true. Case closed.
I'm with you Felipe Don't taint the whole barrel because the holier-than-thou Lucifer camp CHEATED Let's see, the season panned out this way : -Kimi wins Oz GP -Stepney sends info re floor to Lucifer (who knew at this early stage about the info!!) -FIA rule that the floor cannot flex EITHER way so movable floors are NOW out -Ferrari stuff up a few GPs and McL, using the Ferrari braking system move ahead -Stepney caught with OMO in his pockets (claims he's starting a laundry business) -uhoh Coughlan's stupid wife goes to Kinko to copy the Ferrari 2007 F1 plans -Stepney has been feeding Coughlan the fixes for McL braking from the Ferrari team -Lucifer denies any knowledge despite the FIA ruling in Oz on the flexing floor -Ferrari have a mid-season resurgence (Kimi lays off the booze long enough to finish the race) -FA threatens to tattle tale on Lucifer -Lucifer runs like a squealing pig off to the FIA to beat FA from squealing like a pig -Guess what, they admit they used the info ... we're all flabbergasted that such a virtuous person like Lucifer could do such a thing had he lied to us ?? surely not -McL are allowed to continue but have a $100M fine and lose all their points for 2007 -McL and Ferrari settle in for the last few rounds with a less than average chance of Ferrari winning -Hamilton chokes -FA drove well enough to win but has some bad luck (boohoo) -Felipe gifts points to Kimi to try and slingshot him to the front -Kimi wins the WDC and ferrari win the WCC and all this while racing against their own car in crappy silver colouring -Evil dwarf is not happy because KR is a mumbler -Mad Max is laughing as he walks past Lucifer's palace knowing full well he'll be using U-Haul next year
