Eureka! I found the slides of the Motto bodied car. These were taken at the Willimen home in April of 1982. The last one shows a removable round plate which covered the steering idler bearing. If you look very carefully you will see someones attempt to stamp 02C. I had to use a flash so it is a bit washed out. Jim, That was the only number I could find anywhere? Here are three detailed shots I took of 002 C on 21 December 2002. The chassis number says 002 I. Note also stamping on steering box. COPYRIGHT MARCEL MASSINI Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
IMHO having a removable steering box cover with a number stamped on it does not validate the pedigree of a car. Jim Clark, Henry Austin Clark's son, did tell me that when 004C was at Dell's Auto Body that all kinds of parts were misplaced and switched. Just another piece of the puzzle.
Not really as 02C is a different stamping than 002I and a totally different car which so far as I know no longer exists. (125 S not 159/166 SC) Was he claming that his car was somehow 125S 02C or that the steering box was from 02C?
I thought the only chassis that Motto body was on was 002c. I didn't know that it also was placed on another chassis. I understand that now it is just sitting as a body. I would rather see it used (if it is still useable) on a replica chassis and with a period motor (are any out there?). It would clearly be a replica, and to me, a much better choice than turning yet another 250PF or GTE into another "GTO".
According to my notes, as of 2000 Williman was living in Prescot, AZ and listed himself as owning a "1947 Ferrari Tipo 125"? I only had one meeting with him. I have include two photos of the other Ferrari I saw that day. It was a big Lampredi car (375?) with a Boano/Ellena body. Don't know the number. Wonderful car you have I think it's one of the very first made? Got some pics of the car, I'll send them if you want? Jeroen
Based on Tipo 125 I guess he was claiming that his car was built on the chassis of 02C. (Not 002C) What do other's think? I've heard of the claim that 01C's chassis was used again and restamped 010I (?) but I've not heard of this claim. I've heard that 02C was restamped 020I but I don't think that's it nor do I see it listed as having that body. Best

Yes Jeroen I'll like to see hem. Besides driving the cars my other passion it to know as much as possible about the history of them and that includes also pictures. Will you be at the Spa Ferrai Days 23-25 June ? Regards, Jan
Jan; Have you ever seen a copy of this advertisement for 0536MD? I found it today while looking through a stack of old magazines. This was in "Competition Press and Autoweek", December 12, 1970. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Fantastic Jeff. I have lots of info about the car but this ad is new for me. My dates were: 1965 Carl de Bickero and 1972 Dr. Hamilton Kelly. It's nice to see that the ad says: original engine. In fact it was John Middleton who in late 1957 installed a 500TR (131-48TR) engine which came from the 0644 MD TR 625LM which David Cunningham crashed at Danville on 27/10/57. You can also see it by the two little bubs on the hood which were made to install the 131 engine which has a slightly different angle. I never could trace the original engine.
Aristides Emboricos owns a 500 Mondial with a Scaglietti body. The car is sometimes in Connecticut but couls be in Europe as he has homes in both places. I last saw the in 1991-2. It was being maintained by the infamous Mssr. Sicard. Looks like the same car (without the stripe).
Aristides Embiricos has 0444 MD, a 500 Mondial with PININ FARINA body, Series One. Still has it, since 1983. Marcel Massini

Jim G's 166 002C could have been had for a similar amount at an unknown point in time... (it sported a Motto body at that time). Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
