Well, I admit that I also had to think about it first... especially with the country "Ruanda" existing, too
Hi, If you want, look at here : http://sportscarclassic.com.sapo.pt/GP_angola.htm it's Portuguese language but the photographs are international. Why not make some profit Ferraris fans ? I don't deposit photographs if I don't know whom they belong !
Regarding the 3 gentlemen in David's shot on post 2651, how about this; Amerigo Manicardi, Luigi Chinetti, Sr. and Louis Chiron?
Nope, I have a secret resource; My dad has been an FCA member since about 62. He recalled seeing Sgr. Manicardi speak on behalf of the factory at an FCA meeting in the northeast sometime in 67. He also recognized Chiron.
Is this the explanation for the mere existence of an Angola GP? The European influence or rather control? I mean, I couldn't imagine a serious race held in one of these countries today, their governments have bigger sorrows than being host for motorsport events...
For sure. That would be my guess. Too bad you don't see it now. But there is alot of new development in Angola now. So who knows
just hit upon this thread, GREAT PICS! Saw a black daytona spider today with tan interior. What a classic!
Today, got a new scanner... Let's see some more photos now. This picture was taken at Le Mans 1963. If the two pilots are easily recognisable, maybe somebody could identify the Ferrari mechanic and the man with the hat. Car is TR #0808 entered by the N.A.R.T. Pilots of the car were Pedro RODRIGUEZ and Roger PENSKE. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The mechanic in the middle of Phil Hill and Pedro Rodriguez is Alberto Pedretti. Alberto is originally from Modena and was the former owner of Wide World of Cars in Spring Valley, NY. He has since retired and lives in Scottsdale,AZ and has been seen on occasion at Bob Wallace's shop. Great photo, Thank for sharing! David
Thanks David for the name of the mechanic... Alberto PEDRETTI. I saw another photo of him with his name, maybe in a Cavallino magazine, but can't remenber wich one. Here is another photo, still in Le Mans. The great French pilot Jean BEHRA is seen during practice in 1959. The TR59 should be #0774TR. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Could that be the most bizarre Ferrari photograph of all time? Shoeless, shirtless, third world African kids standing next to the most expensive car of all time,...then or now!
Some more Formula 1 photos... German GP 1981 at Hockenheim. Note Dino 246 front wheels! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It was an obvious manner to transport the cars in the trucks. Moreover, less difficult to roll and easier to operate.
Yes, Michelin XWX tires... Two more shots from Hockenheim 81... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I love the photos that show the "bare bones" of the cars. They are seldom published. Great photos again!
Yes, but I see always many people with cameras on racetracks, so I invite them to post more photos. They are more usefull on Fchat than in boxes... Two more for you David, still from Hockenheim 81. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
