Is the first one a 290 MM and the second a 750 Monza?

if you mean my köchert-pics: the first one is 500 TRC (0686MDTR), but i try to identify the car in the second pic. i don´t think it´s a 750 Monza ! a 4 cylinder car wont need that bulge in the hood for the carbs.

agreed that the second photo is definitely not a 4-cyl car; in addition to the uneccessary bump in the hood, you can also see the exhaust pipe on the driver side. 4-cylinder cars had only one and it was on the left side of the car.

My guess is it probably a 335-S.

It appears to have all the bumps, vents and exhaust in the right place.

Ferrari ran two 335's at Le Mans in '57.(they were also righthand drive) - With the advent of the works 250TR's the 335's were probably suitable for loaning out the following year.

Could be #0606, a 290MM seen here in Le Mans, 1957. Car was entered by "Ecurie Nationale Belge". It seems that after that race, the car was resold to the factory.

you could be right Giotto - the 290 also has the scoop on the top of the left side next to the screen (which is not evident on the 335's)

While unfortunately I cannot read French, the photos show Ickx wore a dark blue helmet, thus who is that car with what looks like a silver helmet?. Of is it just a funny photo?, as the number looks like it could be a 26. I don't think it's Ickx myself ...

thank you for confirming 0606. there was a misinformation about this car for about 50 years. a 290 MM was never in question. all literature about Köchert was speaking of a works - testarossa, but there was no car fitting (RHD, 1958, ex-works...and so on).

i´m happy that the car is identified and add a pic of a well known Köchert - car. (0748TR) at Aspern 1958.

please respect the copyright of the Köchert-family !

The car is #24 Chris Amon - mainly white helmet with blue and red stripes in the middle. (finished 10th)

    Circuit Rouen Les Essarts 1968
(can't be Spa - the pits looked different and it was a dry race)

just wanted to say that the numbers of cars were
    Different in Rouen and Spa.
And that cars were all rear wings except
    Amon at the Spa.

I am back to this older post #1621 plus David's original posts #534 and #1618. The photos compelled me to try to have a 1/43rd model of this car for my NART theme. Then a fully finished model showed up on ebay a few days ago. I didn't win the auction, but I think the seller could obtain another one for me. My question has to do with the authenticity of the color. It looks good to me, but the description by the seller calls it "metallic brown(ish)." Could he mean "Bronze" and he just couldn't think of the exact word at the time?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBUAA:US:11&Item=290169127045

The same seller had another auction for a model of an identical car but numbered 27 from Sebring 1964 (4453) that DNS. The entrant was Fong Racing. Can anyone tell me the exact color Fong Racing used? Here is DVA's intretation of it:

Anyone have photos they can post of Ferraris CanAm cars? These may have been listed previously in this thread and I just didn't know what I was looking at. I recently attended an SVRA meet at VIR at which I witnessed a McLaren CanAm racer burning up the track (what a wonderful engine noise and such a beautiful car) and it's peaked my interest in the old CanAM series. How deeply was Ferrari involved in CanAM?

    Gary.
There was an excellent 8-page article on Ferrari's involvement in Can-Am, entitled: 'Power Struggle' in issue #63 of Forza magazine, in August 2005. PM me your email address, and I'll gladly forward you scans of it. This well known image of Chris Amon in a 350 Can-Am is from page 81 of that article, but there are plenty of other colour photos, by Bob Tronolone, particularly of the 612 Can-Am variants.

Can't remember where I found it now, but I've always liked this little photo of Chris Amon (#23) and Jonathan Williams (#27) in the 350 Can-Am's mixing it with the other 'also-rans' at Laguna Seca in '67.

.... and somewhere on http://www.scuderia.cc , though I can't seem to find the exact link, to that part of the site any more ....

There used to be a super gallery album of B&W photos of the 350 Can-Am's at Las Vegas in '67, belonging to David Castelhano ©,
(a.k.a. Bertocchi) - the instigator of this thread. Where have they gone, David ??

Here's a one of my favourite images from that album - Amon's helmet and goggles on the rear deck of #0860.

I have one of the models of the 330LMB and the color seems very accurate when compared to the photos on this thread. To my eye, it is not as metallic a color as bronze...there is a slight tint of brown and it looks great.

Ferraris CanAM effort was weak, and the result 350 CanAM version of the P4 unloved, even by Chris Amon if the David McKay book I am reading is a good source of the truth.
