I went to work for the Pappalardo family in 1984. This was shortly after #0850 was crashed heavily at Watkins Glen during a FCA event. The car was repaired to some degree when I started but finishing the car was not an immediate priority at that time. The car was done for a Franchorchamps reunion in the early 1990s. When it returned I did a total rebuild of the engine and a light go through of the rest of the car. It then went to Italy to have the rear deck lid reworked and the car painted yellow in 1994. It came out beautifully. I believe Franco Ferrari, a former Fantuzzi employee, did the panel work and Cremonini painted the car. It was then featured on Speed channel's "Victory by design". Lawrence Stroll purchased the car shortly after that. When Stroll got a P4 he put #0850 up for sale through Adrian Hamilton and I believe it now has another new home. Great car! I loved every second I was even near the car and would just sit in the car when I was down. Instantly lifted my spirits and put a smile on my face.
Kare, I agree with you that many details make thinking that the Vignale spyder is not 0280AM. Rather 0286AM. Look this pic of the car with the hard-top at Portugal in june 1953 with a "standard" nose. Did 0286AM crash at Porto in june and received a new nose and new rear + many others details just before the Senigallia race on 9 august 1953 ?? We have at least one month (july) to work on the body. That seems enough to me. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Marcel, The middle of the 3 pictures you posted....the original photo has just been sold on e-bay. Either you were selling,or buying, either way, i missed it by just a few measley pounds dammit. If you have a good scan, i would really appreciate a copy (copyright in place of course). Regards Paul.
For reasons I can not explain I enjoy looking at pictures of Pedro Rodriguez. There always seems to be a boyish enthusiasm that shines through. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I do not think that is Franco Gozzi, Enzo's right hand man and I am not sure where it was taken? I have slides of one race where all the drivers have similar name plates on the sides of their cars.
I am not sure this was 1969 Italian GP. He drove Ferrari 312 at Italian GP and his car number was 12. But the sticker was different from other picutures at 1969 Italian GP. He drove Ferrari at British GP with car number 12. But I do not think this picture was British GP. And also he drove at US and Mexico GP. But there were NART stickers. I do not know which race. Non championship race ?
I have the information from the combination of "Grand Prix Who's Who" by Steve Small (racing number) and Alan Henry's "Ferrari Grand Prix Cars" (S/N) For the racing number also see this: http://www.f1db.com/exec/section/grandprix/action/result/id/19690907#race_startgrid
Sorry my comment was not correct. Pedro Rodriguez's competition No. at 1969 Italy GP was "10". But I do not that picture was not from 1969 Italian GP. Because the stickers were different. There was not his name with large sticker. By the way may I ask the reason why Pedro Rodriguez and Tino Brambilla run at the practice ? Why did Pedro run the race instead of Tino ?
In with the negatives for Daytona in 1962 were several pictures of Formula Junior cars. Was there a Formula Junior race run in conjunction with the 3 Hour race? We have at KTR a Stanguellini Formula Junior, one of two, that looks identical to the photo below. Don't know the driver but Briggs Cunnigham is next to the car. Can anyone shed some light on this? Then this one is now at the Stanguellini museum and indeed one of two built. Walter Hansgen drove it at Daytona beach. Image Unavailable, Please Login
i recall seeing a superb picture once of a bunch of monopostos being introduced to the media. in the background was also the GTO being introduced, and getting all the attention. anyone know the pic i'm talking about?
I'm looking for any 550A pictues from race Bueno Aires which took place in 1958 (start number 48) ! High res pics are welcome . . . Reg TAD
I believe that you are speaking about the Ferrari press conference held in 1962 at the Pista Fiorano. They would have been taken by Peter Coltrin. Coltrin's widow sold the photo collection to Peter Sach's. Try contacting the Klementaski Collection.
For Stijn, here is the lineup of Ferraris at the 1962 press release. This picture is from Road & Track, May 1962, photo credits to Henry Manney and Gunther Molter. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I scanned a B&W photo to come up with this one. Only the real die hards will know the particulars. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The photo is the 1934 LeMans winning Alfa Romeo 8C2300, sn 2311249, driven by Philippe Entancelin, in the car, and a very young looking Luigi Chinetti standing to the left. The car was blue. The car was entered by Chinetti. Gramps
