This is a very rare test shot from Fangio's Target ad test shoot. Company was very small at the time. The ad campaign never went forward. Moss wouldn't wear the hat and therefore never got the support of Target racing leading to never winning the WDC.

Daytona in 1962 again. I know the car in the foreground is the Penske Cooper Manaco but what about the TR58 on the trailer behind it? LHD so I am fairly sure it is a TR58.

    Hi David,

It is 1958 250TR s/n 0730TR, entered by Spencer Litchie, but a DNS. Originally a customer pontoon fendered TR, not ex-Factory.

No, but just wondered why the guy on the right is taking a photo of the back of the head of the guy with his fingers in his ears?

Nick Watts does a beautiful watercolor of this car at LeMans. I have a print hanging over the fireplace.

That is one of the two Staguellini Delfinos built. Many photos are in the Stanguellini book by Orsini. there is no mention of one of the cars ever having come to the US. Most of the tests were done at Modena.

I have several Nicolas Watts prints and his book. My favorite automotive artist1 If my facts are correct Chinetti is the last man to win LeMans for both Alfa Romeo and Ferrari (NART car owner in 1965). I had the good fortune of getting to know him in his later years. He truly loved automobiles.

I have several Nick Watts prints, his book, and a Nick Watts original hanging over my fire-place. Nick used to live about half-hour from me - he's now about an hour away - and I have lent him numerous books so that he could get the detail right in his paintings. Maybe we should start an art thread, or has it already been done?

    Sounds like a plan :)

The Cobra/GTO photo is an interesting comparison of the two shapes. Very similar from front to back

Interestingly, most Ferrari comp cars were RHD due to the clock-wise nature of most racing circuits.

Would it be safe to say that the Cobra stole the design from the GTO? Wasn't the GTO designed in 1962, pre-dating the Cobra by about 2 years?

Initial 250 GTO design was done in 1961, with refinements coming in 1962 and beyond.
