0919GT is the one I thought : look especially the thin grill and the two additional headlights in grill very close each other. Must be this one...

    Interesting pics.

Yes Boudewijn, the red cabrio is 0235/EU, PF's second and last 212 cabrio, the 1952 Paris Show, 1953 Brussels Show car. Misses its front bumper, "red for resale" not correct. Probably Dick Merritt's.

Is it true it has since lost its engine and been converted into a barchetta replica ?

The red Scaglietti rear fender appearing in front of the 275 GTB in post #4512 is of "Dino's" 166 MM/53, 0050M (née 0308MM, one of two ugly Vignale berlinettas).

Not quite as old as some of the (amazing) pics on here but I scanned in a whole load of photos from around 1990/1991 (in the UK). Interesting to see how some of the cars have changed over the last 17/18 years.

    The whole set is here:

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/sumlin/sets/72157613495977507/

Here are a couple I struggled to identify: A quartet of David Piper cars, the green one is presumably #0900 but what are the others? And the other looks to be a 330 LMB but I could trace the registration...

The 330LMB is s/n 4725SA, plates [539 HEB 75]. Ex-Bardinon, probably owned at the time by Takeo Kato but shown by one of the British brokers.

What were the dates for the 1991 Silverstone Historic Festival?

    Thanks for sharing the photos.

    Hi Marc,

In the attached photo you posted below, is there any chance you have a photo showing the full front bumper of the covered headlights car just behind the 250GT Europa that is Red with the Black roof?

I believe that is the car that was reportedly owned by Bernie Morgan, and in Prancing Horse #137 p30, it is described as a 250 GT Pinin Farina Cabriolet, however, if it has a 2 piece front bumper, it might actually be 250GT Coupe s/n 1121GT.

    Thanks

    -Jarrett

They're just scanned from 7x5 prints. Even at 600dpi they're hard to read and blowing them up size-wise as I have done just serves to further blur some of the details. Sorry...

Hello all: here are some more of Gary Wales' photos: copyright to him.

Jarrett: I don't have higher res versions: what you get is all I have. Realize also that all that was on my radar back then was the Breadvan book: getting everything I possibly could find about it: these photos were in the envelope also and came as a surprise...

Gary mailed me the photos this winter from California, I had them two weeks then mailed them back. The photos are not technically sharp but I love them for the atmosphere and the mind boggling amount of important cars gathered there.

    best regards,

    Marc

Jarrett, per headlight cover shape alone I would say this is 1921GT - known to be in Ohio in 1965 - so a very good candidate in that respect too. Best wishes, Kare

    Marc,

These are absolutely fantastic photos!! Thank you for sharing these with all of us. Nothing beats 'period' photos of what such a golden age. I truly believe I was born 50 years too late.

Man oh man..........what could have been purchased back in those days for under $20K..............

Ah yes: to be 25 years old in 1960 with enough to live the life, enjoy the cars and race:)

In this case I am just the mailman and happy to share: too many wonderful old shots are just left to gather dust. Here are some more, still copyright Gary Wales, enjoy!

    best regards,

Thanks Boudewijn for the good news. This apparently carefull restoration of 0235EU by David Castelhano (Bertocchi)) makes my information totally unlikely. Maybe it was a mistake with 0063S, a Stabilimenti Farina (not Pinin Farina) that was transformed first into a spider Corsa (not a barchetta) and later into a Touring barchetta.

    Ciao

Great pix, even if my pal Gary (and his beautiful wife, still married after all these years) is featured! That black barchetta is the Henry Ford car, that is now in the hands of the Petersen Museum, exactly as shown here, even with the wide white side-walls, beautifully unrestored! I remember well that the "Dino car" (0050) lived in SoCal for a while before moving east. And dontcha love the GTE with what look like Snaps? Vroom, vroom. Yes, we did drive 'em regularly in those days; I think the only one of my cars that didn't fit that description was the 206SP, and that only because it had NO ground clearance, and it took 3 people to start it! Just to put it in perspective, the 275 GTB was a near-new car, and probably was worth around $10,000. The rest of those beaters, 5 to 15 years old, would have had values of $4000 to $8000 in 1966. Why didn't someone tell me??
