Who, at that time, owned the "Superfast"? Greg Garrison or was it you, Ed?

Ed: do you recognize the gentleman getting out of the silver GTE? That is Michael Kennedy, the business partner of Gary Wales and the one who actually put up the funds for the Breadvan once Roberto Goldoni in Rome, Ed Niles, and then Richard Merritt had informed Wales that it could be bought across the ocean in Rome. Kennedy would soon almost freeze to death in the Breadvan but that is another story which he is thankfully able to laugh about. Speaking of which the "croissant charriot" is not at the event: it had arrived in the US the previous December 30....this must be when Gary had it repainted and worked on in Detroit, will ask him next time we communicate. More later in the day! best regards, Marc Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Marc, keep posting! Wow, what a meeting that was, all these famous cars in one place. I was looking at all these pics and noticed something strange, but couldn't put my finger on it. Then it dawned on me: there are NO obese people in them!
Not quite 1960s but still nearly 20 years ago - doesn't seem possible. From Silverstone 1990 Nathan Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Marc, When you talk to him next, could you also ask him about that Silver 250GTE 2+2? That appears to be the only car that is not mentioned in any of the Prancing Horse reports. There were 3 GTE's mentioned in the PH reports and those are all visible in Gary's other photos (2 Red and one Silver-Blue). Was this car owned by Gary or Michael Kennedy? Thanks -Jarrett
Hah reminds me of being in the paddock on Sunday late afternoon in 1988 or 89 (not sure of the year I lived in Silverstone then while racing) when the teams were packing up and one Ferrari engineer I was chatting with was pouring F1 fuel into a rental car and when I said isn't that like giving vodka to a baby? He answered Eet ees Wouerse! I remember the Ferrari front row in 88 and Mansell doing well in his Ferrari in 89...time flies!
After driving 6051 at Moroso (cf Cavallino 105) I felt the same as GW in the photo and I still smile about it 10 years later! Some more! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well aren't these just special!!Congratulations to everyone who participated in showing these pictures and identifying some of the cars.I am doing fine on the identifying except for the 250LM. Who can help me out on an s/n for this car and any other info they may have. Thanks much. just one man's opinion tongascrew
No way, Jarrett, that's an error purported after Massini's LM book. But 5149 was burnt at Sebring 1964 and not rebuilt until the 90s. The sccop on the front fender shoul but I can't find !
The car is 5149. It was rebuilt following the Sebring accident and modified for street use. The car was then burnt to the ground AGAIN in the 1970s in a garage fire. The debris from this fire were then sold to Chinetti and eventually rebuilt in the 1990s. Tom Reagan drove the car up from Louisiana (as reported in many sources) and 5149 was the only 250LM that was ever in Louisiana. Massini's 250LM book is correct. -Jarrett
What modifications for street use? LM's are perfectly driveable, although hot and noisy. Is the scoop for fresh air to the driver? Mufflers?
Hi Ed, Not sure of the exact modifications, but the car was badly burned at Sebring in 1964 and required a total rebuild, including a new body. The car never raced again, to the best of my knowledge, so I believe it was rebuilt with the idea of being used simply as a street car. Visually it does not appear to have anywhere near the same modifications done as Merritt's 5995 or the Pininfarina show car 6025, so likely nothing too special. -Jarrett
These pics leave me with a single brilliant notion: I am totally making myself a red NART/Ferrari cardigan!
Good morning! Voila some more of Gary's shots, many of them taken by his wife it seems. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
