Attached is the above picture after sharpening. Do this AFTER reduction and BEFORE saving to .jpg for best results. PhotoStudio and PhotoShop are good. Some other sharpening programs are bad. Experiment a little to find out how much sharpening is right for the picture as it will be seen on screen. Save the original for playing later. Great thread. I took pics of West Coast races in the 50's. Lost them all. Memories are good though.
    Thanks,
    John

Wow, what a terrific photo! Thanks for sharing it. Looks to be the nose of Birdcage Maser on the pole, several GTOs, maybe an Elva, the driver of what looks to be a Lotus 23B with his head turned, an early version of a Chevy Corvair (Lord help us), a Triumph TR4, several 356 Porches, a Jag 140 in the rear. My gosh, what a great shot. I raced a Fiat Abarth Berlina 1-liter coupe for many years in Maryland that had a Nassau 1963 tech sticker on the dash. Al Cosentino raced it there and in Sebring in '63. It ate 1-liter Mini's for breakfast!

    Hey guys go easy!!!

I have a 62 Corvair Spyder with the 150bhp turbo engine, same as the one in the photo. Car is one of my daily drivers and a hoot to boot! Super easy to keep it on the boil and the handling with the IRS single pivot swing axles totally predictable.

Only Nader (who never drove one anyway) or a complete idiot could get themselves in trouble with one of these miniture iron beasts!

The drums fade a little after some heavy down-hill breaking and its not a car I push too hard past legal limits but fun nevertheless!!!

There is a double S on ramp on the short run to my kids school and my little guys scream at the top of their lungs...faster...more opposite lock...work it popa! Thank God it will be nearly ten years before my oldest gets his license.

    Cheers,

    Bill

In answer to the question in post 447, about the location of the track in Puerto Rico, I dug through some magazines and found the following:

Until 1955, sports car races had been staged on a small scale in Puerto Rico at Ramey Air Force Base, located at the northern tip of the island. At that time, the base was put under Strategic Air Command control and the airport circuit was no longer available.

A new track was built (1959/60) on the outskirts of Caguas because of the city's nearness to the larger cities of the island. For example, Caguas is just a 25 minute drive from the capitol city of San Juan.

The circuit is set in hot, steamy, verdant hills at the edge of a flat suger cane lowland. The breathtaking hills are short, sharp, and steep; forming an excellent vantage for spectators.

The track is 1.7 miles in length, with a half-mile straightaway 60 feet wide. All of the 11 curves are 50 feet wide. The rest of the track is 40 feet wide. Fangio called the track "The Little Nurburgring".

I am using Macromedia Fireworks. I have tried sharpening after reduction.

Here are three photos taken in 1975 at Luigi Chinetti Motors on 600 West Putnam Ave. in Greenwich, where I started my Ferrari career. Perhaps Marcel can shed some light on the chassis number. (Coco Chinetti is on the telephone).
Second shot is of the interior of the same car.
The last is an old Alfa stuffed in the back with so many other neet cars. I have seen previous threads on cars stored at Chinettis.

The silver car is the rebodied 250/275P known as the Bob Peak Car. It is the subject of an earlier thread in which Marcel is a prominent contributor. I am glad eveyone enjoys the phots. I try to mix it up a bit as far as subject matter.

Cowl is the key; only Monzas in s/n range 0492..0498 had such cowls. Only two of them were around in 70's and 0496M was in UK. Photos confirm. Best wishes, Kare

In my family we have had this debate for many years. I believe the car to be RHD, as most Vignale cars are, and the Prancing Horse backwards. The shelves in the restoration shop were against the other wall. There was a window on the wall opposite the shelves. I must be crazy!
