0726 TR was destroyed in Havana in 1960 in the fatal accident of Ettore Chimeri A picture of 0726 which was imported and raced by Lino Fayen was converted to TR59, with Felix Varona at the wheel and Ettore Chimeri standing. Image Unavailable, Please Login
0726TR was too simple indeed. Suggestions are is was built on remains of 0606 and received a 0726TR shape copied body and TR engine.
Hi. thanks for the info. When you look at the barchetta histories of the 250MM PF coupes for many there is a blank for the years of the late 1950s and 1960s Some of these ended up in South America. The ones in Argentina are well doccumented. Brazil is another story. If you come up with anything please let me know. thanls tongascrew
Interesting photo of 0726. Thanks for posting, Elmotorizado. Where and when was it shot ? BTW 0726, one of two works '58 TRs with 0728, has nothing to do with 0606. People who tried to revive 0606 with remains of its wrek just thought they were dealing with 0726 and called it so.
In Caracas during an event, late 59 or early 60, if you look at the white car it is 0758 there are more photos but poor quality. branko
Most of you will remember that ATS was formed after the "Palace Revolt" at Ferrari, was it 1962? In 1966, after having acquired the first of two ATS's that I owned, I visted the factory, which had already closed down after having lost their entire F1 team in a road accident. From the amount of parts on hand, they obviously intended to produce many more cars than they did. I hope you will enjoy these pix. Gotta stand back and be amazed what is in the Ed Niles archive! I had heard that there were people building ATS cars using those parts long after the factory closed down. Can anyone tell some tales out of school here, (or given the breadth of knowledge here, in school.) TIA. Best, Yale
Ed, your ATS photos are a treasure trove. As you know, it was a photo of an ATS on the cover of Road & Track magazine that ignited my interest in Italian cars. Thank you for posting these!
Ed, Fantastic photos again. Looking at the stock there, ATS must have had quite reasonable funding. Who was behind that?
Amazing photos Ed!!! Thank you again. Tom Tanner/Scale Designs/Ferrari Expo 2010 model/photo contest-Chicago April 2010
Hi Boudewijn, are you saying the yellow Scaglietti spider # 24 is 0726TR ??? I don't think so !! The s/n would rather be 0562MD...
Hi Aardy, can you please tell me how do you get to 0562MD? I looked in Barchetta and that car doesnt show history in Venezuela. Here is another shot of the same car in the same event with a 12 cilinder installed. Are there other sources to look into Ferrari serials? thanks branko Image Unavailable, Please Login
0562MD was found in 70's in Venezuela and several pics of the car exist showing it was modified years after years since 1955...
In your sources is that the same car that Guido Lollobrigida raced in 1960 by any chance? Any of the pics that you mention are available? branko
I have Guido Lollobrigida with a Maserati 300 S. I know he may have entered a 750 Monza but can't remember if I have seen a pic of the car...
A few different pic of Lollobrigida in different Ferraris. He raced a Maserati in 3 hours of Daytona in 1962. branko Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Scaglietti spider is clearly not 0562MD. It's written "Ferrari 3000 Sport - 750 (?) Mondial" on the picture but could be s/n 0534M... Of course, the 500 Mondial PF spider is 0418MD...
Here are some Enzo Ferrari / Mille pics on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250488828597&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123 I am not affiliated with the seller.....
Barchetta is missing a lot of info on cars in South America in the 1950s and 60s. The Argentina cars are pretty well covered in the book dedicated to that country.Brazil and Venezuela histories are still very vague. This is not really the fault of Barchetta. The histories of these years are just not well recorded. We need people like "branco" to post as much as possible with the hope it will start others with knowledge of this period to post their comments and photos. Many of these cars just disappeared due to damage and neglect and were eventually discovered as "barn finds" as much as 20 years later when the collecting fobia got started. The provenance of the cars will lead to some interesting stories and I would encourage anyone with anything they have, no matter how remote or vague to post it. The pieces of the puzzle are out there. Please send us what you have. just one man's opinion tongascrew
A little late but the pic on post #4636 really shows 0498M, at this time with rounded rear arches for bigger wheels...
Not an easy task tongascrew, as many of the pople involved are no longer with us, I thing that I have met with the rite people that we still have around and sometimes their memory isnt at its best. branko
