Very nice photos Ed. They -most of them anyway- show the old building where he first kept the cars right alongside the track and which was razed long ago since he reconverted a barn to store them about 50 meters back. I did knot know he had owned the 612. The 212 E Montagna is in the ugly body Ferrari put on it after the 1969 campaign: I wish the car was returned to the 1969 appearance, so much prettier and more significant. Carlos Monteverde when he owned it told me on the phone he had thought about it but there was a problem with relocation an oil cooler or some such. Visiting privately on May 1 1998 to shoot 0870 there will reman a very special day for me. Pushing the car out of the museum with him involved snaking through a number of the other cars, half an inch from the Le Mans winners for example: surreal! Here is one of the shots I took that day low res, all I have here. Sorry if it does not really qualify as an old photo! best regards, Marc Image Unavailable, Please Login
Dear Ed did you have pictures of non Ferraris cars of the collecion ? Especialy Ligier JS2 and/or JS3 mister Bardinon own in the 70's? Thanks Thierry
As always Ed, you've wowed us down with your pictures and recollections of the way it was. Thank you very much I don't know if this website has been listed before in this thread, but in any case, it was just updated a few days ago, so it's worth another look. The first photo is labelled as 158/F1 006; but it appears to be a 65-degree V6. Heaven is your own circuit and a selection of Ferrari's finest to play with whenever you like.......... Paul M
I have seen that very nice site, although it is mainly focused on west coast racing. Tom Tanner/Ferrari Expo 2010 model/photo contest-Chicago April 2010
Paul, It certainly looks like 4 plug wires to me (admittedly, the one on the far right takes a little studying to be sure about). As for the rest, Heaven Indeed. Best, Dave
In answer to Thierry's question: Cooper-Maser T81 F1-4-66, and Talbot T26 GS. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Interesting arrangement. I've never seen anything like it but I can assure you that you wouldn't want to take that suitcase into a hotel room--or your house--by the time you arrive.
There appear to be only 3 pairs of inlet trumpets; also the over-the-gearbox exhausts weren't used on the V8 F1s. However, chassis 006 (which I think is now in the Collier collection, restored with an original V8) was fitted with a 2.4 litre V6 in 1966 and driven to second at Monaco by Bandini, and had this style of exhausts: http://colunas.globoesporte.com/files/148/2009/02/quegpeesse761.jpg Paul M
Paul, On further inspection it looks like twin-plug six cylinder (so six plugs on that bank of three cylinders). I stand corrected. It's quite impressive how much those of you above my rank of 'casual number spotter' know. Very cool. Best, Dave
It will be covered in oil, road grime and who knows what else kicked up and swirled back onto it by the GTO's aerodynamics.
