A few more Flickr public photos to get you in the mood for Daytona and Sebring coming up soon. The NART OSCA Zagato is nice along with the Ferrari's............. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Didn't Ferrari make another 815 in recent years ... do I see a legal battle in the future about which is the original one? We shouldn't as we all know which is the original, but we are talking about an insane country that recently did this ... http://www.smh.com.au/world/italian-court-overturns-paedophile-conviction-as-11yearold-in-love-20140102-hv7ak.html Pete
No Ferrari did a copy of the 125 with a 12 cylinder engine. The Auto Avio Construzioni 815 which raced at the GP Brescia de MM 1940 , two of them, one only seem to have survived, the one in this collection, had a 8 in line engine.
You are correct, same principle as 8C Alfa Romeo engine with distribution in the center of the 2 Four cyl blocks. I guess Enzo spent enough time with Alfa and Alfa Corse to remember how to engineer a big engine form 2 small blocks.
Massimino and Nardi worked on the engine with Ferrari . All of them had worked with or around Jano before.
This thread should come with a health warning! Yesterday I sat down in a pool of sunshine by the window and started flipping through these pics... At some point I realized I was hungry and cold and the sun had gone down... No wonder - 4 hours had gone by and I could barely stand up after sitting for so long! So many fabulous pictures but I just can't go past 8081 - so rare to see Enzo smile and a beautiful creation behind him!
Can someone help me ID the car, driver, and race in this photo? The print is for sale at a local furniture show and I'm very interested in purchasing it. I believe the man's armband to the left of the car says 1954. Apologies for the quality, photo of a photo. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you so much! Always impressed by the knowledge on this forum. He placed second, yes? EDIT: Quick Google search, it appears he and Juan-Manuel Fangio won that race! Excellent.
Looking at photos of a house for sale in Saint Marsal near Le Boulou and look what was on a wall in one of the photos! Image Unavailable, Please Login
The car also raced at Mosport but with Eppie driving. The Porsche badge was on the 512 car at Watkins Glen (those are where the pictures are from a few pages back) and also on the car at at least another race, probably all of them. From what I understand he was just goofing around and stuck them on his car. The badges are on the nose as well as the sides. Here is a pic of the car but it has the tape stripe which it did not have the Watkins Glen. You can see the Porsche shield next to the Valvoline decal. http://www.islandcollectibles.net/Ferraripics/F512/512cam7c.jpg
Not exactly : de Portago gave his car #4 to Peter Collins who finished second, then he took the damaged car of Castellotti #3 but was black flagged after two laps (dangerous damaged car), then waited the end of the race and pushed the car across the line to finish 10th... http://lizard.artun.ee/~korc/pix/formulaone/gpr035-1956%20british%20gp,%20silverstone%20-%20alfonso%20de%20portago%20(lancia%20ferrari).jpg
Please, Do you know where, when, and who is at the helm of this car. 330 P3? 412 P? 330 P4? Savez vous ou, quand, et qui est au commandes de cette voiture. 330 P3? 412 P? 330 P4? thank
Not Daytona and it doesn't look like Sebring, look at the high country in the background... Could be testing somewhere... I'm more interested in one of the other shots in that group.. Specifically this one.... The caption is cryptic.. says' Tom Mede and say's P4 and 1970 and David Piper........ Are these the remains of 0846 at the time??? Are these the pieces that Marcel saw and said Tom had that he identified as being 0846 around that time?? And if it was deliverd to David in this condition it's hard for me to think that David didn't know exactly where the frame he later sold to Napolis came from..... Just random thoughts but I find it most interesting...... Image Unavailable, Please Login
The car on the airfield circuit looks, from all the stickers, to be Piper in '0900' when it was painted red. Paul M
This is what I read somewhere (Piper 0900) but # 24 intrigues me. and where is it C'est ce que j'avais lu quelque part, (Piper 0900) mais ce n° 24 m'intrigue. et ou est-il. Meade/ Piper: I do not think this is the remains of 0846, because the car was burned. perhaps mechanical elements? Je ne pense pas que ce soit les restes de 0846, car la voiture avait brulée. peut-être des éléments mecaniques?

I have a picture of a Ferrari taken at Road America with Herbert Mueller in his garage. It might be a 512 or a 312, dont know for sure, and this was the Can Am in 1971. Its one of my favorite pictures of the era. Wish I could post it.
