Très belle photo que tu possèdes ! Si tu peux me les envoyer par mail en meilleur résolution, çà serait sympa. Tu as déjà parler à mon père qui est le biographe de Louis Rosier ? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm now on page 372 of this thread, been looking at it off and on for days. Most extraordinary group of period racing photos (and display of knowledge by members) I've ever seen. I fully understand why these cars fetch the prices they do - global interest, romance, passion.

Photo #1: Showing left front corner of 250 Monza #0432 M and Corrado Cupellini's 156 Monoposto #0011. Pic taken approximately 1988. Marcel Massini
This picture has been posted here before. I am re-posting it to ask a question. Does anyone know the chassis number of the white TdF on the rack? Thanks. john Image Unavailable, Please Login
John: I believe the car at the far left in the front is 410 SA #1015SA. That would date the photo to September 1958.
Has any one ever tried to identify any or all the chassis being assembled on the left ? Not necessarily V.i.N.s but at least design #s. ;-)
Thanks Dyke. I always thought this was a 1959 photo, but you are probably right. The number of license plate illuminators on the PF coupes will also give us a clue. I cannot tell from this photo. john
Another photo with Phil Hill. Don't know which magazine and copyright. Maybe the same cars...? Image Unavailable, Please Login
OMG! what a priceless artifact, and article written by our just-lamented Denise. I'd be immeasurably grateful, if not too much trouble, to have a photocopy of the entire article.
The white TdF could very well be 1037GT. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
You're probably right, Wayne, there can't be that many white TdF's. I just remembered I have the Starkey book. I'll see if there are clues there. john
The first was taken at the Trinidad GP, 1959. The other three were taken in Venezuela - at the Maracaibo GP, 1959.
Another question, Dyke might know the answer. Referring to the b/w factory picture above, at what point does the car get its ID plate? Do the cars we see here have anything other than the PF number? john
John: The Chassis carried the identity of the car. When a chassis was ordered from Vaccari or Gilco, Ferrari assigned a number to that order and gave that number to the chassis manufacturer. Many years ago, we were able to see Vaccari's handwritten books of the chassis numbers. The engines were built using Internal Numbers as their identifications. Completed engines were simply stored until needed for a car. At that time, the chassis number of the car was stamped on the engine pad. The bodies received the ID Plate after they were mounted on a chassis and the car was finished at Ferrari. Obviously, Ferrari and Farina knew which body was going on which chassis, as the chassis were numbered by the time they arrived at Farina.
I found an old floppy disc with some photos on it. Can anyone share some detail info? Bob Z. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
