Tom, I am absolutely in awe at the amount of hand-work that went into these magnificent racers. Many thanks for the lessons!

Is it just me, or does it look like the axles angle to the back of the car in the bottom photo? May account for the 12mm difference in wheelbase from P3 to P4? Just stirrin' the pot.

Curiously, I have 5 pix from that day, but only this one would upload. Were I a teen-ager I would understand the problem.

    Re pix in post #9189:
Photos #3, 5 and 6 taken in 1971 at L. J. Roy Taylor's home, in Aston, Market Drayton, Shropshire, England. Parked in the garage are 212 Inter Cabriolet Vignale #0159 E and 250 GT Lusso #5693 GT. David A. Clarke, owner of 0856 at the time, is visible in photo #5, in the back, with his hands near his face and little hair.

    Hi,

I think he is taking a photo of his car. :)

Having that photo and a couple of more would give enough data to make a 3D reconstruction (photogrammetry) of the scene. So a model maker could have a "diorama."

    Cheers!

The other photos were at Oulton Park circuit; David Clarke drove it on track there sometimes and once had Chris Amon drive it for a magazine article.

Correct and Chris, I believe, thought he was driving the Daytona winner, proving that drivers don't give a toss about things like chassis numbers ;)

Thanks, JM2, but those are not my pix. It probably doesn't matter, as I think I posted my set much earlier in this thread.

I never knew who the actual photographer was.
The photos were given to me by my former boss, C.M. Jordan back in the '70's, and I never asked who actually took the photos.
He knew it was one of my favorite cars, so he was kind enough to gift them to me. Been admiring them ever since!

I wonder if any photos of this car will ever surface from the 1967-1969 period, when it was owned by Dick Wilkins.

It was allegedly road registered in the UK on plate 'XPJ 86G'...

Anthony Cazalet has previously stated that Graham Hill once drove #0856 on the road, and reiterated it when I spoke to him recently, but it's not clear whether this was during or after Dick's ownership.
