Mille Miglia 1953. I'm trying to idenfify the Ferrari in the photo in this book. And what's the white logo on the side ? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Clearly a Touring barchetta 166 MM but not the #455. Did you find a pic of #527 said to be a 166 MM/53 but never saw a sole pic of it so could be an old 166 MM, who knows ?
I think it was not raced. I believe Inico Bernabei (racing a Fiat 1100) had recently sold to Tullio Ceratto (pre-entry on a Citroen B11 Traction avant) so either he decided not to start or was not allowed to do so. Someone with ACI/PRAs at hand might be able to confirm the details.
Does anyone know what 275 Competizione this is? The photo was taken in January 1966 in Richard C. Paine Jr's garage. Photo via Seal Cove Auto Museum. Image Unavailable, Please Login

I'm guessing this is out by A.J. Watson's farm, west of Indianapolis. Gordon Barrett owned 3769 GT from 1971(?) until its 'sale' at The Auction in Las Vegas in November 1991. As barchetta notes, "this was a faked sale". Before I met Gordon I was told, 'he has a GTO and he keeps it in A.J. Watson's (famed Indy car mechanic) chicken coop'. I was in college and got connected with Gordon and he was kind enough to invite me out to the shop in Indianapolis. We then took a ride west of town on I-70 to the Watson farm. By then the GTO was gone but we were going there to see his new old Alfa. As Gordon had explained, the 'sale' was all BS and was done to provide the auction with a star attraction. In actuality, he had received in trade the ex-E.P. Lunken 275 GTB/4, the ex-Judge John North Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Touring Spider (1932 Paris show car), and other consideration (I forget what). And yes, before Gordon started the restoration, the Alfa lived in A.J.'s chicken coop. In actuality, a wooden car barn of sorts.
