Sad to have learned of the recent passing of John "Buck" Fulp. Fulp was a gentleman driver from Anderson, South Carolina, who received a nice inheritance and, as one does, used the funds to go racing. He raced both independently and for Chinetti, competing against the best at Sebring, Le Mans, and Nassau. He owned significant cars such as 0724 TR, 0778, 0798, and a handful of road cars. He later went on to race Lolas. He had to have been one of the last from that generation of drivers left.

0794 TR is pictured here at the 1962 running of Le Mans in his distinctive blue livery. The car was prepared for him and Peter Ryan by Chinetti. Photo copyright David Castelhano.

Of course that is the most obvious answer. Or it is real and they did it on purpose to prevent unwanted intervention by Ferrari lawyers....

I doubt Ferrari were hypersensitive about trademarks in what must have been the early 1960s, especially on a toy. And applicable law probably was not as restrictive either. My guess is it’s likely a reverse image even though there aren’t any other clues in the picture.

A bit off-topic, but yesterday I visited someone with a large collection of books, magazines etc. and in one I noticed a picture of what seemed to be a 166 MM Touring barchetta, but with a fixed roof. It was however not a Ferrari, but a Jaguar (I guess an XK120 or XK140). I've tried to Google this car, but unfortunately it came up empty. Anyone know more about this (I think) unique car?

Not that I know of but there are others here much more knowledgeable about it. They may be able to give you a more definitive answer.
