#3647 is hibernating for the winter! As soone as we get it out for the Spring I will post some pictures for all to see!
#0850 had a very limited competition career. Due to labor problems at the Ferrari factory Francorchomps didn't not take delivery of the car until Daytona of 1967. Shortly after Daytona the Belgians took delivery of their P4 and the 412P became slightly outdated.
0850 was the best they could buy in 1967...........it was only about 30 bhp shy of the works P4 and similar in most ways (apart from engine and mountings, pipe runs, ZF gearbox, triangulation of rear of chassis, etc, etc.....). It ran at Daytona, missed Sebring like all the Ferraris for legal reasons, missed the Monza 1000k for some unknown reason, and was badly crashed at Spa which put it out of action until the Montlhery race on 15th Oct. after the WC season was over. In response to the request for 250LM photos, this is the best I can do right now. The 365 P2 #0838 is in the Peter Sachs collection, the 250LM behind it is the race winner and is now in the Museum in Indianapolis. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow what a field of cars! From the cars in the parking lot I would say it was taken in the States. Looks like a couple of 750 Monzas and maybe a 500TR? Thanks for posting the photo.
David - I notice your picture of Sebring and car #20. Here is another of a different car # 20, I believe this is 1970 or 71. In both photographs you will see my two brothers posing next to the car. In addition, you will see Harley Cluxton in the bottom photo along with my brothers, then college friends. I was more interested in their picture than that of the car. Sorry. Jim S. for post #160 - Road America 1956, the "Cincinnati Gang" of Ferrari owners. #30 - Bob Goldich 500 Mondial #75 - John Quackenbush 500TR #15 - Jim Johnston 500TR #6 - Ebby Lunken 500TR #132 - Chuck Hassan 500 Mondial - 0556(0446)MD In researching our car, we met Jane Earls, ex-wife of the late Chuck Hassan. My dad happened to be traviling thru Ohio a number of years ago and stopped by Mrs. Earls' home. The visit didn't seem to be very fruitful - she didn't remember many details about who owned which cars when - but then she rummaged around a closet and produced a shoebox full of old photos. The photo in post 160 is one of them. A lot more of those old shots from Mrs. Earls' collection can be seen in Cavallino 144 starting on p. 50.
152 miles of Elkhart Lake on 24/06/56 with 0612MDTR, 0622MDTR, 0634MDTR, 0536MD and 0446/ex-0556MD, maybe?
Bryan you win, I received the picture from your dad. How many cars you know from this picture (it's taken from a book but I think in this thread it's allowed) ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jan, I enjoyed the photo. My collection only goes back to 1958. Attached is are two photos of the 375 F1 at the 1958 Monza-Indianapolis race. The driver is Harry Schell and the car has what maybe the first N.A.R.T. sticker. The last I knew this car belonged to Dieter Holterbosch of Long Island, NY. Superb pictures David, My picture was taken from the Monza 1966 yearbook which shows the grid for the 3rd Supercortemaggiore G.P. (1000 km) at Monza in 1955, the front row left to right: Behra (Maserati, 68), Hawthorn (Ferrari, 16) and Mières (Maserati, 70). My Mondial is on the fourth row on the left (56) driven by Luigi Taramazzo who finished 2nd IC and 8th OA. I hope to drive it at the 100th anniversary of the Targa Florio this year. I think it was Marcel Massini who wrote an article about it in the Ferrari Market Letter a few month ago and I thought this is a rally I should do (Olivier Gendebien won it three times when it still was a race and his signature is on the body of the Mondial).
