Very cool pictures. These show 375F1 Indy s/n 0388, which was renumbered from 01. Car was with Dieter Hilterbosch from 1964 until 1997, then was sold to Symbolic who resold the car to Michael Mak, who was the last known and maybe present owner. Attached are two pictures I took of the car when it was at Symbolic in 2001. (I hope people will forgive me for posting non-vintage photos)

My family purchased 250 GTO #3647 (#74) In 1966 or 1967 From Luigi Chinetti along with a Lusso. My father sold the car to Bob Sowers of Somers, Conneticutt. At the time he thought he was making a huge profit on the car and recalls selling it for $9800.

During their ownership him and his father went to a New England Ford Dealership who was displaying a Ford Gt40. As soon as they arrived in the GTO everyone in the dealership ran out to see the Ferrari. : )

Upon selling the car to Bob Sowers, my father made a deal for Bob Sowers to sell him his XKE that was on order. A special ordered 1967 FHC Dark Metallic Green with Black interior. We still own the XKE today.

I probablly have some original pictures of the GTO somewhere, i will look tonight.

    Hi,

Interesting story, what was your father's name? (family name?) In Keith Bluemel's GTO book he lists the car has coming from Tom Meade in Modena and going to Robert Sauers in 1966. Sauers then sold the car to James McNeil Jr. in 1967, who still owns it to this day. I guess we can insert your father's name into that ownership chain and I assume Chinetti got the car from Meade, which would not be surprising. Thanks for your help

As it turns out my post back in #118 was incorrect. I emailed American Racing guru David Seielstad and he confirmed that the 500TRC that David Castelhano showed in his picture with #32 was actually s/n 0668MDTR driven at the Lime Rock, CT USAC on September 7, 1958 by Alan Markelson. George Arents did not enter his 500TRC s/n 0658MDTR at Lime Rock in 1958, to the best of David's or my knowledge. Sorry if my earlier post caused any confusion

    Hello Cyril,

I'll try to make a better scan tomorrow. The picture is from the Monza 1966 yearbook. There is also a nice picture in the book 1000 km di Monza.

I have known the owner of #3647 for over 22 years. He is probably the best custodian (we don't own these cars for ever) of any car I have ever met. In 1967 he had many new cars to choose from and instead purchased the GTO. The car is as original as humanly possible and he is very comfortable with the car that way. Sometimes I believe that "preservation" is more important than restoration. Most of the GTOs out there have new bodies, partial chassis replacement, and Lord knows how many rebuilds. #3647 is the real deal and so is its' owner. IMHO it does not get any better!

It has been pointed out to me, by an astute colleague and GTO owner, that #3647 has had its' body replaced twice. Both times were previous to the McNeil ownership. My apologies for the oversite!

    Jan,

    You wrote :

In fact, your Mondial is on the fifth row, completely at right on the picture, just behind the number 50".

You can also find a good pic on page 20 of the 1000 km di Monza book : your car is just behind the number 14.

MANY THANKS for the Supercortemaggiore's pic.

They used the car on Mass. Repair Plates, It was like a dealer plate back then. John Temerian is my father. Robert Sauers was a very good friend of my dads. He owned a large collection of cars.

Great job of investigating on the Monza photo! This one is the same SWB from post #71. Looks to me like Genedbien standing next to the car.

The Ferrari barchetta in the upper left looks like it has Motto coachwork. Do you have the S/N for that car by any chance?

    Cyril,
I thought at right on row five it was n° 58 and left on row four number 56 also becauce of the helmet of Taramazzo and the windscreen as on the 1955 MM picture. But it's hard to see and maybe you have better eyes. Thanks for all the numbers on the picture

The Barchetta with the Motto bodywork was once owned by an Ed Willeman who lived in Westchester County, NY. The car had a very low serial number according to Ed. I have more photos of that car from 25 years ago.
    Great family photos!

Great pictures and an impressive list of cars. Do you know who your father bought the 250TR and 250GT SWB from and who they were sold to? Which years? Was he based out of Massachusetts or Connecticut or somewhere else in New England? I'm just curious because I grew up in Wellesley, MA and also lived in downtown Boston for a couple years. Great post!
