Jim, PM me about 3 - 4 months before the event with the details. I assume the track can run with one car at a time. I only track cars these days if I can have it to myself during my run. Yes, I would give it a go if I can schedule it and have enough time, yes.

Like you say, "that environment". That is not quite the same environment we live in down here on Terrafirma, nor is it the same environment general aviation aircraft operate in. But we also know very well that Uncle Sam has no problem spending $50 for a quart of anything, or $5000 a quart for that matter, its not like their paying for it.

I found this discussion quite interesting..

    Hi Paul, I mean Raul?,

I hope you will be semi-impressed with 180K milies on synthetic. I have used 10W-40 Valvoline synthetic and Castrol synthetic for the last 16 years and M1 for the last 3. It may be a moot point since those oils [Castrol & Valvoline] supposedly are no longer group IV oils. All told, my engine has retained good compression and good oil pressure.

    Ciao,
    George

Ali- Yup. I probably should have quoted you.

Art- Most of the stuff you use everyday was initially developed by DoD and eventually flowed down to the commercial market. Spending $50/quart for a quart of oil for something that could melt its own wings off in level flight is not a waste of money. If you were hinting the military wastes taxpayer money, then I am telling you you are full of crap.

The test remains valid as long as you run the car as hard as you can drive it safely (to get the oil as hot as possible.)

I happen to like running with others (generally running them down and passing them--sometimes the other way around.)

My Track is open to members and their guests so you can't run there by yourself.

As Mitch points out you can simply go to a track that will let you run by yourself and run hard for lets say at least 4 hours on a hot day.

I'll do the same and we'll then send in our oil to your guy and get reports.

You run 0-20 as you do and I'll run 10-60 as I do.

I suggest we send in 2 samples: a: the unused oil, b: the oil used on the track.
Keep a note of the max water temp, the max oil temp.
