This is my first post so please be gentle. I have had my '92 348ts for 8 years and still love it, however I wish for a bit more power. It's bone stock except for wheels and tires and I am thinking about adding a free flow exhaust and possibly the razzo rossa chip. Does anyone have any experience with the chip and a recommondation for the exhaust or any better ideas? I am in CA so everything needs to be smog legal as I dont want to have to reinstall cats every 2 years.

You are in the right place.

    In order:

    1. Free flow exhaust including cats - talk to gothspeed for an X-pipe system
    2. Free flow air filter K&N or equal
    3. Remove screens from MAF's, decrease resistance to about 370 from 383 (might not do anything but sound cool, eh?) :)
    4. Have throttle bodies bored 2.5mm to 26.5mm
    5. Have upper and lower intake plenums bored and smoothed
    6. While you're at it, have the intake runners bored out, smoothed and matched to intake ports on heads
    7. Replace chips with performance version - talk to No Doubt about the pink chip option

All this was done to my car and more and I pass smog - barely. Hydrocarbons at max legal level at low rpm test range, however. More importantly, the engine remains stock in appearance. My next mods will move away from the stock package.

For exhaust I would go X-ost. Sounds great on our car ,and the least expensive, couple that with gothspeed cats. Also add a KN type air filter.

The chip I am interested in knowing more about.

Thanks vvassallo, that give me a good list to start researching. Any idea on HP or torque gains for the exhaust, cats, and filter combined?

Donjuan, the chip gains approx 15 HP on 91 gas and 18 on 93. It's about $1200 and that's about all I have found out.

Do not believe anything you read about power output increases. Test it for yourself. We have so we have a pretty good idea of what yields what. BUT, most important is what the mods do to your performance - throttle response, acceleration, etc. I refrain from quoting specific numbers because that is painting a target on your forehead around here. :)

I will say that doing the above will definitely convert your car to something you will enjoy.

Where do you buy the rosso chip?

Vince , I asked No Doubt and he said he does not do chips. What is the pink option.

Vince, I understand about the numbers, I was just trying to get some idea. I'm not ready to dive in to all the porting yet and am planning on just doing the exhaust, cats, and air first. I'm hoping to gain around 8-10% and I would think this would be reasonable for these mods as I know the later model challenge cars has and additional 20 HP. Is GOTHSPEED in socal?...thanks for your input.
