I was in Australia 3 years ago and the 308 was at prices $75000 for a average one and $90000 Aus dollars for a good one. They were not fibreglass but later carburetor models. In Germany the 308s are all around 45000 euros at present! Even I saw these prices in France occasionally.
Then that must really burn you that a lowly grease monkey has 2 ferraris. Its a good thing you make the money you do since checking your own oil is a challenge, lol.
Back to the subject matter. Usually I laugh off this bi-annual "308 Prices are going up" thread b/c the prices never really seemed to change. But I have to admit I've noticed a marked increase in asking prices for 7+point cars for sale and big increase in 10-point cars for sale. Carb cars used to be asking $25-$27. Now I seem them above $30k.
I think you're right. And the reason these threads are a waste of time is this: how many of us would consider a $3000 price increase to be a windfall? That's like a new windscreen, a set of tires and some Ferrari-certified air in those tires for a 308/328. I'd like to see these cars start to follow the Dino 246s so we can stop hearing Sheehan talk about how common they are. Other than that, I'm not looking to my 328 to be my main source of income anytime soon.
Not at all.....i wish you another 10 my friend !! BTW : ROLMAO means Rolling over laughing my a.s.s off
Here is a car on Ebay...looks nice records, engine rebuilt it seems. $34,9K. Seems like prices are stable or is this car an exception. QV's seem 35-40K like the last few years from what Ive observed. Is that true? In Europe they are a bit more. 2 different markets. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1984-FERRARI-308-GTS-I-WOW-LIKE-NEW-COLLECTORS_W0QQitemZ130169476153QQihZ003QQcategoryZ6212QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Probably the mileage. Most QV's that are over $40, that I've seen anyway, have 25k or less miles on them. But then, this ones probably more accurate.
The mileage is listed at 46.6K and the photos show the odometer at 28.4K. So, how old are these pics? I guess we have to decide if 'Best Deal Auto Group' makes the market on quality 308s.
Tend to agree with you Jon, but the thing i like about this car is the owner has the bills to show and pics of the car goign through a process. its not a here say...many bills to prove...with that said...im not crazy about the red paint on the block, and the extra shinny gloss on the wheels....but if someone did some more digging on this car to make sure it wasnt twisted, and glued back together, and make sure it didnt go for a swim...its actually priced pretty darn good. Misus points for me are the radio, the paint on the block, and the mileage not matching...interesting to see what comes of this car if checked correctly.
Definitely worth checking into, for a prospective buyer, and I wouldn't mind seeing more dates on those receipts. What I would caution against is taking a car like this on eBay as a market data point until we know more about it (which, right now, isn't enough, IMO).
radios are dealer installed on the old 308s, mine will have no radio just as it came from the factory.
My car had a radio (Alpine) from the factory not the dealer - I have the documentation. This is probably around the time they started installing radios at the factory. Prior to that, cars just came with a vinyl covering over the radio area and the dealer chose whether to install or not. I am not sure if cars came equipped with speakers from the factory or not???
want to listen to a radio buy a stereo! Listen to the engine like newman. i have a 308 radio in my car never turned it on in 7 years.
Interesting, the cars all came with an antenna and I would say yes to speakers since the grills are there. Im going to make a plate and cover it with vinyl to match the dash.
I agree... I never listen to the radio in my car.... Ferraris (and Lambos) are the only cars where the radio is broken and you don't care. It reminds me of those tee shirts they were selling a while back that said Ferrari Sound System and had a picture of a Ferrari V12...
I wanted the correct vintage (as in 1981) Blaupunkt for mine. I got exactly the one I wanted still sealed in the box on ebay about 9 years ago. It was the same model that every 308 I ever saw between 81 and 83 had. Behind it I installed a 450 watt 4 ch amp, 10 disc CD remote CD changer and componant speakers in front with Anthony Gallo speakers in the rear - which look EXACTLY like the Blaupunkt Ball speakers dealers installed in them back in the day. Inside it looks like 1981 but turn it on... I can hear it just fine with the top out on the highway at 90+ I love my engine and Tubi but there is no shame in a nice sound system either.
So it sold. This car sure needed alot of work to make correct. Seems that even the beat up glass cars are fetching 75K US now. Wow !!!
