I understand that Gates make a timing belt for the 308 2v but I can't find any mention of it in the Gates catalogs and the counter guys just shrug. Anyone know about these timing belts. I was told that they last longer than OEM belts. True or False I don't know. My belts are off and I'm chasing oil leaks so I have some time to shop Belts and bearings and seals.

Do a timing belt for the 308 2v.........Gates part# is TO 40, belt spec. Neo101x25.4T

Don't know if they last any longer than other belts....i.e. Dayco or Pireli Isoran as have never used them!

Just go with THE KNOWN quantity (Unless you want to, and are well heeled enough, to run some potentially dangerous R&D for us).

You want the ones with the "LiL Horsey" (Printed: "Ferrari") on them too.

    Daniel sells them.

Don't rack your brain on this one. Just buy the belts from one of the "usual suspects", like Ricambi America or Partsource or GT Car Parts, etc. They all carry the correct belts, and turn over their inventory enough that you will be getting fresh belts. Plus, you will be sure to be getting the correct belts. No matter who you get them from, you won't save a huge amount of money by sourcing them yourself.

And while you are at it, take a serious look at the tensioners by Hill Engineering that Ricambi sells. They are reasonably priced and have a one-piece bearing in them, rather than the exploding two-piece SKF bearings that can make you nuts. We installed them on a friend's 308, and they seem to be a very high quality product. Definitely going to them next belt change on my 328!

The new ones are junk. The old ones were terrific.

I am serious. I will buy NOS SKF's.

to answer your question here, the T201 RB belt is for the new adjustable pulley design. the OEM pulley has a trapezoidal tooth profile while the T201 gates belt is a GT2 and looks like a half circle, they are not interchangeable.
