Here is a layout of the new track. The new track will reside on the previous DDC property, plus extend onto the property once occupied by the old Oval (which has been removed to make way for the newly expanded road course). At 2.9 Km the new track (built to the latest FIA standards) will be longer, wider, and faster than the previous layout. Also new will be an extensive pit-lane, a 1000 x 150 Skidpad area, and new classroom & hospitality building. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The construction of the new DDT is excellent news as it offers learning drivers a controlled learning environment before graduating to the 'big track' which has much higher speeds and smaller margin for error. The old DDT emerged from a kart track and was just never up to the rigors of car use. Yes they ran cars on it but it was very Mickey Mouse and it was hard to clear 3rd gear in most cars. For me the big track will always be king but it is nice to see the baby track get a proper re-do.
