Thinking about flying lessons again. Have an airport 10 minutes away, flight time is $75 an hour with instructor...

Lately have seen lots of YouTube videos on minichoppers... mosquitos seem awfully cheap, 50k gets you a non turbine version... not sure how much copter lessons are, and the mosquito is a single seater...

    Any thoughts on minicopters?

    Downsides:
    No passengers
    Limited range
    Nonpressurized
    No climate control
    Etc

    Upsides
    Damn cool....
    Experimental aircraft...

How much less safe would something like this be, vs a Cessna?

    Daydreaming...

I would think an autogyro would be safer

Well...they both autorotate :). One all the time, one on demand...

I used to love flying rc planes.

Flying a plane, especially a trainer, was easy...

Flying a heli, took time. It was definitely a learned skill.

Who was it that said, planes glide on the wind...helicopters beat it into submission...

I'm imagining the moment when you have transitioned from say a trainer R22 and now your sitting in a Mosquito all by yourself. Its "soloing" with a new perspective!

Bit off tangent, but do any trainer or experimental aircraft have autopilot capability?

Also, most full size Helis have gyros I would think, no?

Flying an rc heli without a gyro was impossible...
